The Twins just got back over .500 (again) while a top prospect is starting to heat up.

There was a lot going on in the minor leagues today. You can read about it and catch up (or comment) here.

After taking in three Kernels games in Cedar Rapids, Seth is driving back to reality tonight. So I'm pinch-writing.

Like any back-of-the-rotation starter, you'll have to put up with me once (and sometimes twice) a week. I'm ...

It is hard to imagine that this time last year there were temperatures in the 70s or higher for parts of Twins Territory. There are only a handful of days left until Opening Day and there seems be plenty of snow left on the ground. Fans in North Dakota and northern Minnesota are still digging out of the most recent blizzard and it's hard to believe baseball is only a few days away.

The World Baseball Classic wrapped up in the middle of the week so most players are back in camp for ...

Some of the most intriguing spring training battles for the Twins are the race for the starting center fielder job and for the last spot in the rotation. Two of the best prospects for the Twins are in the middle of these battles and they both have been putting together decent starts to the spring. Even if the rest of the spring goes great for Aaron Hicks and Kyle Gibson, they both might be destined to start the year in Rochester.

There are a few different ...

With a variety of top prospect list coming out at this time of year, there is plenty of talk about the high-ranking prospects in the Twins farm system. Miguel Sano and Byron Buxton could be on their way to multiple All-Star appearances. Alex Meyer and Kyle Gibson could make up the starting rotation of the future.

The Twins have some talent at the top of their farm system and this makes the next couple years of development very important. Some of these ...
  5. Picking One Twins Player to Start a Franchise

When a club is in the rebuilding process like the Minnesota Twins, it can be tough to know which players need to stay and which players need to go. Fans are connected to a lot of the players that have been here for multiple seasons and it can be tough for the team to part ways with some fan favorites.

In the end, it is up to Terry Ryan to decided what is best for the future of the franchise. He had to make the tough decision to trade away Denard Span ...
  6. Making a Sano Angel

I caved and signed up for a free month of Netflix. I was duped by my curiosity to watch Ballplayer: Pelotero, but now that I'm hooked I need to find eight extra bucks a month. My main interest on Netflix is the documentaries. So let's stick to, and sift through, the facts on Miguel Sano...

Spring Training - Game 4 vs Red Sox-sano.jpg

I recently dogged Sano a little bit by predicting he would fall from the gracious #1 spot on the top-20 Twins’ prospect list following 2013. I felt ...

  7. Minor League Players to Watch: Position Players

by , 02-19-2013 at 07:32 AM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
The Twins have a few full squad workouts under their belt and the team's first spring training game will be this weekend. Spring has sprung in Fort Myers even if the 40-degree weather this weekend didn't agree. Baseball season is back and there are plenty of things to be excited about for the Twins.

Last week, I looked at some of the story lines for pitchers and catchers since they were the first to report. Later in the week, I dissected some of the headlines for position players as

  8. 5 Questions with MLB Fan Cave Nominee Michael McGivern

by , 02-11-2013 at 08:41 AM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
For the second year in a row, Twins fans can help to send a local representative to New York City for MLB's Fan Cave. Michael McGivern, a resident of St. Paul, is one of 52 finalist for this year's version of the Fan Cave. He needs help from everyone in Twins Territory by voting for him as much as possible. Fans can vote at MLB.com and you can see his video below.

The MLB Fan Cave started in 2011 as two "cave dwellers" were selected to live in NYC for the entire season. As part of ...
  9. The Progress of Miguel Sano

by , 02-01-2013 at 09:13 AM (Over the Baggy)
There is no shortage in interest of Miguel Sano among Minnesota Twins fans.

Last weekend, extended lines stretched around the Dome of people waiting to secure an autograph of a player who is still several years away from making his big league debut. This week, MLB.com announced their Top 100 prospects and labeled Sano the best third base prospect in baseball as well as the 12th overall in the game. He’s all the rage.

Rarely do I field any question more from Twins fans ...

Based on the lines for the minor league autograph station at TwinsFest, Miguel Sano fever has hit the Twin Cities a couple years before he will most likely make his MLB debut. The team's top prospect had fans lining up for hours to get his signature on a ball, a bat, or their favorite photo. It was fun for fans to see the future star in person and it helps to give some hope to the future.

Sano will be entering his fourth season as a member of the ...

ID:	3165The Minnesota Twins front office should feel somewhat vindicated by all of the recent draft picks, international signings and savvy trades which have brought the organization closer to sustainable relevancy – at least by MLB.com’s standards. On Tuesday night, MLB.com revealed their Top 100 prospects and six Twins prospects graced the list.

Joining front-running Miguel Sano (12th), Minnesota sent 2012 draftee Byron Buxton (19th), recently acquired Alex Meyer ...
  12. Race to Target Field: Byron Buxton vs. Miguel Sano

    Spring Training - Game 3 - 3/4 - @Boston Red Sox-sanobuxtonrace.jpg
No, this isn't the cheesy mascot race held around the warning track at Target Field. This is a race between the top two prospects in the Twins system to make their debuts in Minnesota. It could be a hotly contested race and it could come down to a photo finish.

Tuesday marked the 19th birthday of Twins top prospect Byron Buxton. This means that the two players ranked highest on most Twins prospect lists, Buxton and Miguel Sano, are now both 19-years ...
  13. What the Royals' trade means for the Twins

    Spring Training - Game 2 - 3/4 - @Tampa Bay-james-shields-royals.jpg
The buzz around the baseball world is the big trade between the Kansas City Royals and the Tampa Bay Rays. Kansas City sent some of the best young prospects in the game to Tampa Bay for two pitchers, James Shields and Wade Davis. The Rays pick up last year's minor league player of the year Wil Myers, pitching prospect Jake Odorizzi, and two other minor league players.

For the Royals, the future is now as they bet some of their best prospects on contending ...
  14. Twins still have things to be thankful for

by , 11-21-2012 at 10:20 AM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
It's the day before Thanksgiving and the beginning of next baseball season still seems far away. The offseason hasn't really gotten off to a thrilling start for the Twins. This means that fans will continue to wait for the club to make some kind of move to improve this team.

When families gather around their table tomorrow, some will spend time discussing the things they are thankful for in the past year. This could include being thankful for good health, a new baby, or a marriage ...
