One of the great things about Twins Daily is that everyone can start up their own Blog. As we have pointed out, the best of the best can be promoted to the front page. Also, we can promoted series as well. Over the last week to ten days, frequent Twins Daily contributor Thrylos has been working on a tremendous series called Profiles of the Top 22 Pitchers in the 2012 MLB Draft. It's a great series in which we can learn more about future, potential Minnesota Twins. A few of them will ...
Scott Diamond actually gave up a few runs on Friday night, but because the Twins hitters brought their big bats to Miller Park, Diamond becomes the Twins first three-game winner. Josh Willingham got the offense started in the first inning with a long two-run homer. The game was 2-2 going into the 5th inning, but Joe Mauer’s two-run double gave the Twins a 4-2 lead. They scored two the following inning on a two-run Denard Span single. They added four runs in the top of the eighth inning to put the ...
Drew Butera is hitting .350 and the Twins just swept the Tigers!! All is good in Twins Territory now, right? Well, maybe not, but there are starting to be some signs of positive. Justin Morneau went opposite field for a home run, one of his two hits. Trevor Plouffe homered for the second straight game. Brian Dozier is inching up on .300. PJ Walters was terrific through four scoreless innings, but between the fifth and sixth innings, he gave up three solo home runs to cut the Twins lead to 4-3. But ...
When spring training opened up in late February, I posted an article called Twins Two-Way Planning in which I said that the Twins 2011 roster was probably built perfectly to go one of two directions. In essence, if things went poorly, they had enough one-year, veteran contracts of guys that other teams might have interest in at the trade deadline. The Twins could get prospects to help push forward the rebuilding process. However, the other scenario was, “IF seven or eight of the factors ...
The Twins lost again last night to fall to 10-25 on the season. A Ryan Doumit 8th inning home run got Twins fans quite interested, but Matt Capps gave back the run in the top of the ninth. Enough about that, huh? Today, Justin Morneau turns 31 years old. New shortstop Brian Dozier celebrates his 25th birthday. And my little girl, Jozie, is more than a little bit excited to be turning a big six years old. In other words, she's been keeping me busy with her excitement the last couple ...
A VERY HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY from TwinsCentric and the Twins Daily staff!! Scott Diamond did it again. In a repeat of his first big league start of the season, the left-hander threw seven shutout innings. That he lasted seven innings is most impressive since he was drilled in the left shoulder by a line drive in the second inning. He gave up some hits, and a lot of line drives, but seven shutout innings is always appreciated. Brian Dozier had two hits, including his first big league home ...
PJ Walters was terrific in his Twins debut, but the Twins lost by a score of 2-1. He gave up a single run in the fifth inning. In the sixth inning, Walters hung a 3-2 curveball to Jose Bautista who hit a line drive barely over the fence in left field for his tenth Target Field home run in ten Target Field games. The unfortunate thing is that Walters made a 2-2 pitch on the outside corner at the knees, a pitch that had been called a strike all game, but it was called a ball, extending the Bautista ...
Starting at 1:00 today (Saturday), Seth wll be again answering your Twins-related questions here. Twins Daily Live Twins Chat
The Twins and Blue Jays sat in a rain delay of nearly two hours before getting their game going just after 9:00 central time. Although the game should be done and I should be sleeping, it is a good competitive game thus far, so I will be up for a while. There were some good performances on Friday night, and there were some poor performances on Friday night. In player news, Kyle Waldrop’s rehab in Ft. Myers has been successful to this point. He pitched in seven innings over seven games ...
The Twins lost 6-2 to the Blue Jays. Jason Marquis was able to go just four innings. The game was ugly for Twins fans. There were base running errors. There were several defensive errors. There was bad pitching, and bad hitting. Josh Willingham did home for the second straight night. As Gardenhire told the Twin Cities media following the game, “Things happened out there that really don’t happen in high school.” I guess it’s fair to say that things have to get worse before they get better, but hopefully ...
The Twins just finished a three game series against the Angels, and on Thursday night, they will start a four game set at Target Field against the Toronto Blue Jays. To say that the Blue Jays have had the Twins numbers in recent years is a massive understatement. Let’s take a look: Year W-L RS RA ...
Immediately following the Twins loss tonight against the Angels, the team announced that they had optioned 3B Danny Valencia and Designated LHP Matt Maloney for Assignment. The selected the contract of RHP PJ Walters and OF/2B Darin Mastroianni. Valencia has really struggled with the bat and glove throughout the season, and yet the timing here is a little surprising. The hope would be that he is able to figure things out down in Rochester and come back and resume his role as the team's ...
Tonight, Brian Dozier made his Major League Baseball debut. He fielded a ground ball off the bat of Albert Pujols in the first inning and made all of the plays throughout he game. He was hitless in his first three at bats against Jered Weaver. In the bottom of the 8th inning, he singled right up the middle against reliever Dave Carpenter for his first big league hit. At first base, he as patted on the helmet and congratulated by Albert Pujols. Soon after he scored his first run. It ...
I was asked to be a guest on KFAN’s Baseball Weekly with Gleeman & The Geek on Sunday. I was on the second segment of the show and shared a Good, a Bad and an “Other” story. It was a fun segment and I encourage you to listen to the podcast, if you haven’t already. It was fun to do some research on each of those topics, and I thought that I would share some of that with you today. Obviously we could talk about Miguel Sano and Eddie Rosario, and that’s good, but we want to make sure ...
