Twins Provide Plenty Of Room For Thanks

Posted by Off The Baggy in Off The Baggy, 25 November 2015 · 73 views

Whether you're new here or not, a quick glance at a handful of the articles at Off The Baggy should give you a glimpse of what I'm about. Not a full blown sabermetrician, I find myself using statistics to tell a big story more often than not. In this post however, there's very little reason for numbers to quantify anything. With what the Twins gave us in...

Landa and Rosario: The Clock is Ticking

Posted by jorgenswest in Blog jorgenswest, 25 November 2015 · 167 views

The Twins chose to add Yorman Landa and Randy Rosario to the 40 man roster. There is no doubt they have major league velocity. They also haven't found success in Low A ball yet. They opened in Cedar Rapids in 2014 and were injured early in the season. Last year both returned from injuries and pitched in rookie ball before entering low A in 2015.

They nee...

It's been a hard fall for me to write in these spaces. Every evening I try to sit down to write, I find a dozen other things to do. There are papers to grade and recommendations to submit and people to actually be married to. So while I love to write, and even though I want to write, it slips through my fingers more often than I like.

AFL Recap Week 6: Scottsdale Takes AFL Championship Led by Twins Prospects

Posted by Steve Lein in The Hanging SL, 22 November 2015 · 160 views

The Scottsdale Scorpions went 2-2 in the final week of the 2015 Arizona Fall League season, to finish with an 18-12 overall record, and earn a place in the AFL Championship Game for winning the East Division. They would face off against the West Division winners, the Surprise Saguaros on Saturday.

But before we get to that game, in which the Twins prospe...

Next for Twins Offseason? Hopefully Not Much

Posted by SD Buhr in SD Buhr/Jim Crikket, 17 November 2015 · 585 views

Last week, Minnesota Twins General Manager Terry Ryan went back-to-back-to-back making three deals in three days in an effort to improve his club, winning the bidding for the right to negotiate with Korean slugging first baseman/DH Byung-ho Park, trading backup catcher Chris Herrmann for a prospect, which cleared the way for catcher John Ryan Murphy to be...

It’s not even Thanksgiving yet, and the Twins have already made or have the wheels in motion on three moves that had direct 40-man and even 25-man roster implicat...

Hicks trade doesnt pass the smell test..

Posted by huhguy in Blog huhguy, 11 November 2015 · 705 views

Who would trade a player that Hicks was this past season for a catcher that might not even be your starter?

I would think its one of two things

1- This catcher is better than what his stats show

2- Ryan wanted to move Hicks for a non playing reason

What do you think?

Park's Addition Shouldn't Mean Plouffe's Departure

The first domino has fallen for the Minnesota Twins' 2015-16 offseason, and while some feel the club's (pending) addition of Korean homer machine Byung-ho Park will force the front office to trade Trevor Plouffe, I think it will actually give the front office more flexibility for the year ahead.

The Twins still have to sign Park to a contract, they've on...

The 2016 World Series Champion Minnesota Twins The Minnesota Twins can win the World Series next year. They have the lineup, mostly. They just need a bat and more production from the catcher position. The pitching is on the way in the form of Jose Berrios, Tyler Duffey, and Trevor May, and they have the defense. They need a left-handed reliever, a bat, and more production from the catcher position, an...

Thanks for the memories, Torii

Posted by hlrule in Heather's thoughts, 06 November 2015 · 162 views

It was the 2002 All-Star Game in Milwaukee. Torii Hunter was an All-Star for the first time. He left his mark in the first inning with a homer-saving catch against the wall off the bat of Barry Bonds.

Hunter had plenty of spectacular catches over his career, earning him nine Gold Gloves. But that one in particular is one of the most memorable that stick...

"You never know what you're gonna get" (from Forrest Gump), this little witticism also applies to baseball players. How do we keep Trevor and Miguel in the lineup together? How do we find the right catcher? How do we shore up the bullpen? Should Torii Hunter have a role? Do we need another starter, or just swap out some that we have? Can we afford an ace? How do we do all this under a scenario that the F.O. might actually consider, from an economic perspective?...

I wanted to stay in a Twins uniform, and I want to win. And we’re definitely headed in the right direction.
— Joe Mauer after signing an eight-year, $184 million contract in 2010

All of the vitriol aimed at Joe Mauer right now would have been directed, ten-fold, at Twins management if they had not retained him in 2010. Minnesota had just opened a new pu...
