It’s the same with every team in every city, be it the New York Yankees, the Boston Red Sox , the Seattle Mariners, the Houston Astros, or the Minnesota Twins. Each team has fans that are willing to be patient, think logically and give the benefit of the doubt to players and front office personnel whose jobs are much tougher than it looks on TV. Each team has fans that are ready to jump off of a bridge with every loss, feeling the need to place blame on someone, a player, the manager, ...
I know it's 'in vogue' to call for the head of the hitting coach when things are going badly. I'm hardly the first and if things keep going like this for the Twins (6 runs in 4 games) more and more people will jump on that bandwagon. The fact of the matter is that in each of the past two season, the Twins offense has gotten off to a very slow start and sometimes a change a scenery is needed, even if the old scenery isn't necessarily the problem. Last year, the circumstances were ...
[Originally published with pictures at Twins Fan From Afar] Though he got into a jam in the fifth inning, Alex Wimmers definitely looked capable of facing AA competition Last week, I was fortunate enough to have dinner with and talk to ...

At the end of spring training when Brian Doizer was sent down to the minor leagues, he seemed to leave the Twins facility with a chip on his shoulder. His time in the big league camp had been sufficient with him hitting .277/.333/.511 with three home runs and nine RBI in 47 at-bats. With him only having spent part of a season at the Double-A level, it seemed like a very long shot ...
(4) Four games in, and not the start we all envisioned to be sure. (5) Five letters for us all to consider R-E-L-A-X I just hope the Twins, particularly the coaches and the players can just take a deeeeep breath relax, stay calm, not panick and just play baseball. Getting 1 out of these next 2 against the Angels would be a great start and if they just play ball they can do that. Next is the Texas Rangers, after stud southpaw Matt Harrison in game ...

Each week leading up to the MLB draft, I will be providing a roundup of how Big 10 teams fared and how notable players are doing. This player list is by no means exhaustive of all the potential draft candidates and there are likely some listed who will fizzle out, but this is a start. Purdue (4-0 week, 24-5 overall, 7-2 Big Ten, first place) Updated players-to-watch season stats: Kevin Plawecki, R, (C) Jr. : 29 games, .373/.470/.618, EBH: 14/2/3, BB/K: 15/5, ...
Twins minor league affiliates had not won a game since Friday. All four affiliates lost on Saturday. Rochester was the only team to play on Sunday, but they lost. On Monday, the Twins affiliates were back to their winning ways as all four teams won. Not only that, but some of the organization’s top prospects either continued to hit or broke out a little bit. Eddie Rosario, Brian Dozier and Danny Santana continued to rake. Meanwhile, Miguel Sano had a special day, and Levi Michael and Aaron Hicks ...
I agree with the majority that Target field is a fantastically beautiful modern facility with a nostalgic/old-time feel, but I am perplexed as to why they planned out the dimensions the way they did. Usually teams who have procured the financing to build a new ballpark build it around their star players and their strengths. I cannot remember if the Twin's were given the thumbs up to build the ballpark in 2006 or 2007, but at that time they at least knew Mauer's strength was as a gap to gap hitter ...
Rough day for the Parent club, however some key prospects had good days. Dozier, Hicks and Sano all went deep. Below is the day-by-day for April 9, 2012. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/...UE&output=html Again, if anyone knows how to embed this into the "blog" please let me know.
Why, when you play 162 games in a year does someone who loves baseball as much as I do, who knows that slumps can happen, but when only 2 Twins teams ever started 0-4, then they face 5 of the toughest pitchers in the game to follow, don't you have to be nervous that this is going to be a real long season. I just wrote about starting 0-3, not worrying yet, but today watching as much of the game as I could due to work I am nervous that this is going to be a long summer of boring baseball. I was ...
Alright, I have never been a fan of Casilla. He has always been lackadaisical both in the field and at the plate/running bases. I can recall several times him forgetting how many outs there were. We and the Twins were patient with him because we did see flashes of a very exciting player. However, he has failed on numberous occasions to ever sustain any of this play for an extended period of time. I think many bloggers on here were really hoping for him to be a utility player this year but that is ...
Four games into the seasn and Sano now has 2 hits on the season, a grand slam and a 3 run homer. Is he the next Russell Branyan? Take amongst yourselves.
Minnesota native, Cole DeVriesThis post originally appeared at www.puckettspond.com Sunday morning I brought you the news and results from opening weekend for the Twins minor league affiliates, and what a weekend it was. Baseball is back across the nation and #hope springs eternal in Twins territory and beyond. Despite a tough series sweep of the Twins at the hands of the Orioles Twins fans should keep their heads ...
I'm not from Minnesota, I've never been there either. I'm a twins fan because my father is a twins fan, he grew up watching Rod Carew smack baseballs all over the field. His fandom of the twins carried over to myself and my brother. Living in South Central Pennsylvania I could transfer to a more local team. The Phillies are a mere hour and a half from my home, in fact we go there a few times a year to catch a game as most of our friends or Philly fans. The Pirates are a few hours West ...
