  1. Wha Happened? #6 (Indians, Red Sox, Orioles and White Sox)

by , 05-16-2013 at 08:22 AM (Peanuts from Heaven)
Rumors of our demise our greatly exaggerated. Rumors of the school year ending, our student teacher leaving and our work load increasing dramatically are absolutely accurate. Here now, a pseudo-recap of the weeks since the Twins last got a day off.

  3. Twins Minor League Report (5/15): Colabello Crushes

by , 05-15-2013 at 10:41 PM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
The Twins concluded their three-game series with the White Sox by playing a little Wednesday afternoon baseball. With how bad the White Sox looked in recent weeks, it seemed like the Twins should be able to earn a series win. That didn't happen as the Sox took the final two games of the three-game set.

Joe Mauer has been on fire lately and his recent hot streak has him in some rarefied air. He took over the active career leader board for batting average. Albert Pujols (.323 BA) had ...

    White Sox at Twins

Four Sacks of Groceries and Two Dingers (Game 35)

When the Twins have a three run lead, it’s safe to grocery shop without excessive worry.

When the Twins are behind, each trip down the grocery store aisles is pure agony. Every spare moment and empty space offers an opportunity to check the score on your cell phone. When the other team’s runs pile on, it’s hard to keep shopping.

The Twins rewarded my trust with a surplus of ...
  5. Draft Preview: "Personal Cheeseballs" (College Pitchers)

    by , 05-15-2013 at 09:35 PM
Last week, I took a look at three prep hitters that I hope the Twins seriously consider drafting in next month’s draft. I decided to expand the series and today will take a look at three college arms.

To be considered a “personal cheeseball”, I set out two rules: be a favorite of mine and don’t be too good.

Without further adieu, here are my three college pitchers:

Yesterday we studied strikeouts/game and runs/game for teams and found a “correlation coefficient,” which is a number between -1 and 1. 1 means there is a perfect correlation, like the temperature in Fahrenheit and the temperature in Celsius. -1 means there is a perfectly negative correlation, like the amount I spend and my checking account balance. And 0 means there is no correlation, like the amount I spend and ...

  7. What is Oswaldo Arcia doing with his arms?

In addition, there are questions about the offense. Is Josh Willingham ...
  8. Arcia Front Runner for AL Rookie of the Year?

    by , 05-15-2013 at 12:39 PM
Well Twins fans I guess it was inevitable Arcia is being mentioned by national media as the only current AL Rookie worth mentioning as a possible Rookie of the Year candidate at the quarter mark of the young 2013 campaign. Here's the link http://www.foxsportssouth.com/story/...77&feedID=9785

  9. Free Agent Pitching: 20/20 Hindsight

    by , 05-15-2013 at 10:08 AM (SD Buhr/Jim Crikket)
By the end of the coming weekend, the Twins will have reached the one-quarter mark of the season with 40+ games under their belts. It’s as good a time as any to reflect upon how some of the decisions made by General Manager Terry Ryan in building the team’s roster have turned out.

As a team, the Twins have been hovering over the .500 mark most of the season and, after Monday night’s win over the White Sox, they are one game over the break-even point. Over the weekend, Ryan told 1500ESPN ...

  10. Contemplating Cole De Vries

AL Central Position Rankings - First Base-cole-de-vries.jpg
On Wednesday night in Rochester, New York, Cole De Vries will take the mound for the Red Wings in what could be his final rehab start before being taken off the disable list. The right-handed hurler has been dealing with a strain on the outer part of his forearm and he has yet to appear in a game for the Twins this season.

De Vries is an interesting player in the Twins system. Last season, he was finally rewarded for his time and dedication to the ...

He was born in Tulsa, went to high school in Sand Springs, Oklahoma, and was drafted by Minnesota in the 23rd round in 1992. A reliever throughout his minor-league career, his numbers were not particularly impressive until 1995, when he posted a 2.80 ERA, a 1.06 WHIP, 20 saves, and 57 strikeouts ...

  12. Twins Minor League Report (5/14): Lee, Walker Propel Kernels

    by , 05-15-2013 at 06:46 AM (SethSpeaks.net)
Overall, it was not a good day for the Minnesota Twins’ minor league affiliates. However, you’ll want to see what the Cedar Rapids Kernels’ most productive and most exciting hitters did on Tuesday.

Kyle Gibson was back on the mound for the first time since his complete game shutout. How did the Red Wings right-hander back up his strong performance? Antoan Richardson performed the duties of leadoff hitter very well. Cedar Rapids also made several transactions.

  13. How to beat the Kernels

    by , 05-15-2013 at 01:21 AM (SD Buhr/Jim Crikket)
The Cedar Rapids Kernels are sporting a 25-11 record through the first six weeks of the Midwest League season. That's good for a .694 winning percentage. How good is that? Over the course of a Major League 162 game season, a team would have to win 113 games to match that winning percentage.

The Kernels are 12-2 at home and 13-9 on the road. They are 16-7 at night and 9-4 in day games. They've beaten right-handed starting pitchers at a 19-8 rate and have a 6-3 record when opponents have ...

ID:	4076In what is thought of as one of the greatest Simpsons episodes of all-time, Nuclear Power Plant owner turned softball manager, C. Montgomery Burns gave one of his ringers, Daryl Strawberry, an invaluable hitting tip.

“You there. Strawberry. Hit a home run,” advised the decrepit hitting instructor. Strawberry took the counsel and smacked a dinger onto the Springfield Expressway. In a perfect world designed by major league hitting coaches, life would be that ...
