  1. Former Draft picks/Minnesotans

    by , 04-23-2012 at 09:57 PM
    Clete Thomas joined a long list of guys that the Twins drafted at one point, didn't/couldn't sign and joined the organization later. Some other names that are on this list are Steve Pearce, who was cut in Spring Training, and Michael Holliman, who made a push to be on the opening day roster and is now in Rochester.

    There are other players who left the state of Minnesota at some point, only to come back later, like Cole Nelson, who left the state to attend Auburn, but was acquired ...

  2. Monday Night in the Minors

    by , 04-23-2012 at 09:32 PM (SethSpeaks.net)
    As I type this, the Twins and the Red Sox are sitting at 5-5 in the 7th inning. Who knows how long that game will go. All three Twins minor league games were in the Eastern time zone, so those games are all complete.

    Here is a look at the Twins minor league scores and highlights from Sunday:

    ROCHESTER RED WINGS

    Rochester residents were the recipient of three inches of snow when they woke up on Monday morning. Fortunately, the Red Wings did not have a scheduled ...
  3. Where will Liriano fit into the bullpen?

    by , 04-23-2012 at 07:27 AM (North Dakota Twins Fan)
    Original post from North Dakota Twins Fan
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    At the end of spring training, it seemed that Francisco Liriano was posed to have a strong start to the year. After pitching in the Dominican Winter League, Liriano had seemed to have it all together in spring training and he was ready to help the Twins forget about the headaches involved with the 2011 season. But ...
  5. Twins Rotation, Manager/Terry Ryan
    by , 04-23-2012 at 12:22 AM ("And we'll see ya' ... tomorrow night.")
    Is Brandon Webb available???? The Minnesota Twins and Oakland A's would be teams that would look at bringing a guy like Brandon Webb in for the cheap. We have disaster area going on right now. I don't care who you are you aren't going to compete with Pavano, Marquis, Blackburn, Swarzak, Hendriks. This is if Blackburn is healthy, we saw what happened to Baker. I posted that I am giving the Twins some slack for the first 60 games, but something has to happen in the rotation. If Brandon Webb ...
  6. 2012 Day-by-Day - April 22
    by , 04-22-2012 at 11:20 PM
    Twins lose the game, the series and the road trip. There are 3 games left in the tough 19 game stretch (if you for some reason include Baltimore). With a series win against Boston at home, they will either go 7-12 or 8-11 in those 19 games. Like I mentioned before, that would be acceptable in my mind.
    Down on the farm, Scott Diamonds impresses against division leader Lehigh Valley, upping his record to 4-0 and is quickly becoming the favorite SP to be the first to be called up. With ...
  7. Shaky Control Puts Liriano on Shaky Ground
    by , 04-22-2012 at 10:56 PM (Nick's Twins Blog)
    Francisco Liriano was tagged with a loss Sunday as he allowed five runs over five innings, handing out four walks while throwing just 47 of 86 pitches for strikes.
    It qualified as his best start of the season.
    Through four turns, Liriano sits with an 11.02 ERA, 2.28 WHIP and 12-to-13 strikeout-to-walk ratio over 16 2/3 innings. Only 57 percent of his pitches are finding the zone, which is the same rate he finished with in 2011. He was being counted on this year to rebound ...
  9. If the Dominoes Continue to Fall
    by , 04-22-2012 at 10:42 PM
    If the Dominoes continue to fall like they are on April 22, 2012 in Mid-Late June. What will the Twins Brass do? Will they ride it out or will they gut the roster - trading veterans and cutting middling players, bringing up the young fellas to test their engines?
    Pros for Gutting the Roster:
    • Getting a little value for the veteran starting pitchers and position players we have through trades. Maybe Span, Willingham or Morneau could bring something of exquisite value. All of
  10. Traveling in the Midwest League: South Bend
    by , 04-22-2012 at 07:50 PM
    We just finished up a three game set in South Bend, IN. Although the series didn't end the way we wanted (we lost two of three), I wanted to share some of the trip.
    Thursday-Hecklers
    We arrived in South Bend around noon for a 7 ET game. I wasn't sure what to expect of the stadium and was pleasantly surprised to see turf covering everything except the mound and the bases. Playing a number of games at the Metrodome in my career I felt right at home. A large jumbotron ...
  11. Realistic In Season Trade Candidates to better the Twins.
    by , 04-22-2012 at 07:27 PM
    First things first, I want to say that I firmly believe these players, while mostly currently in the Minor Lgs. are A) Big League Ready and B) More than likely available for Trade within their respective organizations. & C) Should fit well within the Twins budget as many of these players have no to little Service Time. & D) Are young/ Prospects, green or raw because that Clearly is the best way to invest you're time energy and Money and NOT Free Agency as proven time and time again also ...
  13. Sunday Game Notes and Highlights
    by , 04-22-2012 at 05:32 PM (SethSpeaks.net)
    The Twins lost 6-2 on Sunday afternoon to the Rays meaning they were 3-4 on the road trip. Francisco Liriano had his fourth straight Lirianic start. It wasn’t pretty. Josh Willingham’s hitting streak came to an end. All-in-all, it appears that it would be a great time for the team to head back to home, to Target Field, for a series against the scuffling Boston Red Sox. Of course, they will get to face Jon Lester, Josh Beckett and Clay Buchholz, so it isn’t as though it gets easy.
  14. Terry Ryan doing his job!
    by , 04-22-2012 at 03:35 PM
    I understand we have many issues right now.....but I would assume with the loss of blachburn and the question marks with marquis and now Liriano, I would think pitching would require some urgency.....But thank god for Terry Ryan!!...He made me realize that everything can be fixed by stopping the arbitration clock on Ben Revere and then picking up Clete Thomas cause "we have always liked that guy!".....Can anyone tell me how a guy who strikes out a third of his at bats in the MINOR LEAGUES ...
