  1. Expanded Rosters

    by , 07-21-2012 at 08:35 PM
September is one of my favorite times of year. I am a big fan of seeing the young talent that is brought up to fill the roster. With so many knowledgable writers/posters on this site I would love to hear your thoughts on who gets a real look this fall. Also, is there any chance with some of the wasted spaces on the 40 man that some unexpected faces are brought up?

A week ago today, on July 14th 2012, the Twins honored Camilo Pascual by inducting him into the Twins Hall of Fame. (for a full list, check out: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minneso...s_Hall_of_Fame )

Known for his curve ball, Camilo Pascual played for the Washing Senators in 1954 until they moved to Minnesota and became the Minnesota Twins, which he stayed (Playing in the '65 World Series)

  3. Friday Night Minor League Lights

    by , 07-21-2012 at 06:03 AM (SethSpeaks.net)
The Twins needed a couple of extra innings to earn a 2-1 win in Kansas City against the Royals. It was a terrific game for Darin Mastroianni who hit a solo homer and a triple. Josh Willingham drove in Joe Mauer in the 11th inning with what proved to be the winning run. The two teams will play at 6:00 central time on Saturday.

It was a good day for the organization. The teams went 5-2 on the day. Oswaldo Arcia had a huge game, yet it was very difficult to decide who should be the hitter ...

  5. Thursday Minor League Rundown

    by , 07-20-2012 at 04:27 AM (SethSpeaks.net)
The Twins lost 4-3 to Baltimore to split a series with the Orioles. Tonight, they start a weekend series in Kansas City against the Royals. The Territory Train is packed full and heading to KC. I’m certain many other Twins fans will be following the team, watching some baseball, visiting the Negro League Baseball Museum and likely eating some really good BBQ. Yes, I’m jealous and need to get down to KC some day!

Anyway, it was an interesting night in the Twins farm system. Rochester ...
  6. State of the Union: A Non-Cohesive Team

    by , 07-20-2012 at 03:28 AM
The Orioles squeezed out a split in what could be considered a disappointing finish to a four game series that held so much promise. Looking to rebound after a brutal sweep at the hands of the fast rising Athletics, Minnesota stumbled in the final two games. It may be fair to start pointing fingers at this point because of how low the team has fallen in the season. Game 3: Offense scored 1 run off of a pitcher with a 6.11 ERA (who is also right handed). Game 4: Bullpen bounds, slips, and crashes ...

  7. 2012 Draft Power Rankings

    by , 07-19-2012 at 04:04 PM
Six weeks have passed since the 2012 MLB First-Year Player Draft and I thought it would be interesting to see which new Twins players have jumped out to a quick start to begin their professional career. Obviously the players that were drafted in the earlier rounds still have the higher upside, and therefore would be listed higher on organizational prospect lists, but this ranking is strictly based on the player's production in the Twins minor league system. Here is the 1st edition of the Twins 2012 ...

  8. Trade Target Team Profile: St. Louis Cardinals

    by , 07-19-2012 at 09:49 AM (SethSpeaks.net)
    The Big Picture
The defending World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals are currently 47-45, 4.5 games behind both the Cincinnati Reds and the Pittsburgh Pirates. They are also 4.5 games behind those two teams in the Wild Card race, but just three games back of the Atlanta Braves and 1.5 games behind the Dodgers for the second Wild Card. The team traditionally is not afraid to make a splash at the trade deadline. Last year, it was a deadline deal that is often credited for propelling the team ...
  9. Wednesday's Twins Minor League Daily

This is always an interesting time of year, with the rampant trade speculation. Will the Twins trade Francisco Liriano? Denard Span? It's curious, but understandable, that they're listening on Josh Willingham. Make no mistake -- just two weeks from now, this team could, and probably will, look quite different. Let's take a look at how the affiliates performed today. With the potential for change in Minneapolis comes the likelihood of promotion for some of these kids.

  10. Trade Deadline and Psychotropic Medications

    by , 07-18-2012 at 10:13 PM
I have to admit I am a bit concerned with the impending trade deadline quickly closing in on us Twins fans. Some of you are adamant about the necessity to make a trade and some of you are equally apprehensive about making a trade.

I see both sides, and I am very worried that a few folks on this site might access the end of their sanity with a trade/non-trade and reach and breach their breaking point. I have a few suggestions for those who might feel this is a feasible outcome.

  11. Who's Going To Be Dealt First?

    by , 07-18-2012 at 06:57 PM (Knuckleballs - JC)
    Article originally posted at Knuckleballsblog.com

Twins General Manager Terry Ryan reportedly told a radio audience over the weekend that nobody is untouchable. Making that clear to every other GM (not to mention everyone in his own clubhouse) is the right thing. It's not about WHETHER this guy or that guy can be had in a deal, it's about HOW MUCH the trade partner is willing to offer.

Of course, some players have no-trade clauses in their contracts, such as ...

  12. The Homerun Race Between Willingham and Plouffe Should Have A Slogan

Recently, I've been thinking about the homerun race between Trevor Plouffe and Josh Wilingham. No, it's not as dramatic as the race between Mickey Mantle and Roger Marris. However, it's still fun to follow Plouffe and Willingham as they battle for the team lead in homeruns.

For several weeks now, they've been battling for the team lead. Plouffe hasn't hit a homerun in over a couple of weeks. Willingham last homered ...

  13. Let's Make a Deal: Wrap Up!

by , 07-18-2012 at 10:17 AM (Peanuts from Heaven)
It's time to wrap up this blog's trade deadline speculation series/gameshow in the making: Let's Make a Deal. Where I offer you trade returns based on the historical equivalent of current Twins. First, let's check out how the fans did in making a deal for Francisco Liriano in what was nearly a unanimous verdict (until my friend Aly called in a last second vote for door #2).

No one, and I mean, NO ONE, wanted to keep Frankie or trade for door #3. (Since Door #3 contained three

  14. Should the Twins pick up Jonathan Sanchez?

Size: 26.5 KBSo the Kansas City Royals made one of the most lopsided trades when the acquired Jonathan Sanchez for Melky Cabrera since the natives swapped Manhattan Island to the Dutch for about 25 bucks.

After a rebound season in KC, Cabrera is fully rejuvenated in the Bay Area, hitting .353/.391/.514 with 8 home runs for the Giants. Meanwhile, in 12 starts, Sanchez completely soiled the bed so badly that the Royals were recently forced to designate him for assignment. ...
