It may have only been two games, but as a Twins fan, there is not much better than sweeping the Chicago White Sox. On Sunday, the Twins scored four runs in the seventh thanks to an RBI single by Aaron Hicks, followed by a bases-clearing double by Josh Willingham. Scott Diamond got his first win of the season and Glen Perkins got the save.

Coming off a dismal 1-5 road trip the Rochester Red Wings came home to start an 8 game home stand against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Railriders (Yankees) and Pawtucket Red Sox. Coming into their game Monday against Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, the Wings had lost four in a row and had been outscored 24-8 in those games.

After his start on Opening Day, I chatted with Twins starter Vance Worley about his on-going efforts to add a change-up to his arsenal.

Worley’s response was that he had not quite comfortable throwing this particular pitch. Being a “feel” pitch, the right-hander bounced between throwing a split-finger change and a more conventional circle change, he admitted to rarely throwing it.

Think about last year watching the Twins pitching staff. What comes to mind right away? 1. Injuries 2. What are we going to get from Liriano tonight? 3. Who? 4. OMG!!! Capps is coming in!! 5. Our 3rd catcher is showing us how to pitch?

Every start was a circus it seemed. The only positives all year on the Twins pitching staff was Jared Burton, Glenn Perkins, Scott Diamond. Liam Hendriks had the chance of all chances, he started 16 games and got 1 win, 5 quality starts. ...

The draft is now only six weeks away. Some things are starting to come into focus; other things are as cloudy as ever.

A quick reminder: The Twins first pick (fourth overall) has a draft slot value of just around $4.5 million.

The strategy that the Twins select the Best Player Available early in the draft remains true. The Twins will follow that strategy yet again this year.

The Twins got a nice 2-1, 10-inning win in Chicago against the White Sox. Eduardo Escobar, who came to the Twins last July from the South Siders, beat out an infield single to shortstop. Ryan Doumit, who was on second after an inning -opening double, advanced to third base and then continued home when Jeff Keppinger was unable to cleanly catch the one-hop throw from Ramirez. Weather kept Twins baseball off my radio from the game ending Tuesday night until today's 2-1 victory over the White Sox.

In that time, the nation struggled to reclaim meaning from tragedy. Locally, winter weather kicked Minnesotan ribs while the state was still down from the last snowstorm.

I just got done watching the Twins-White Sox matinee, and stumbled upon Cody Christie's post on best baseball movies.
