This guy was signed the same year as Sano and supposedly had a great glove and minimal bat. I see he is hitting pretty well, does anyone know if his fielding is good or great in the middle infield?
A few notes from the past week regarding the 2012 Draft Class: Jose Berrios jumps to the #1 ranking thanks to a dominant performance last Friday against Kingsport (5 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 11 K)As I suspected last week, Taylor Rogers made his next appearance out of the bullpen, likely due to his high number of innings pitched.Three players didn't accumulate any stats this past week. Luke Bard, who I suspect is still dealing with the injury that caused him to leave his Aug 10th appearance ...
It has been rough for the Twins over the course of the last 10 games with the team managing one victory during that stretch. The lone victory since August 8th came in a fairly one-sided win versus the Tigers last Monday. It has been painful to watch the games and see the offense failing to score runs in important situations. Even this ...

The Twins fell to 50-70 on the season after a weekend sweep at the hands of the Seattle Mariners. On Sunday, Sam Deduno gave the Twins another Quality Start despite doing his best Deduno impersonation. The effectively wild righty gave up just two runs despite allowing five hits and walking six batters. He walked in the tying run and the go-ahead run scored on a double play. Jeff Gray pitched in the seventh inning and gave up three runs to put the game out of reach. Glen Perkins came in and struck ...
The second-best pitcher in Minnesota's rotation is a 29-year-old journeyman with five innings of previous major-league experience who has issued 36 walks in 46 innings this season. Obviously, that speaks to how bad the club's starting pitching has been, but it also speaks to the success Sam Deduno has enjoyed in spite of his outrageously bad control. The right-hander has tallied five quality starts in eight turns, and with a little run support on Sunday he ...
The Mondayne Notes will be posted either late Sunday night or on Monday. They are best accompanied by this specific version of "Spinning in Daffodils" by Them Crooked Vultures. The Games Monday - Win over Detroit - 9-3 Samuel Deduno walked fewer than he struck out. Ryan Doumit hit a late bomb to put it away. Tuesday - Loss to Detroit - 8-4 The Twins scored 4 unearned runs in the 3rd inning, but Doug Fister pretty much shut them down ...
As the second top 50 I've done this year (cheating?), a LOT has changed. From now on until the end of the year, I don't expect much to change. I've gone through all the stat-sheets on every affiliate and included a few international signings as well. Age, performance, and relative level were all the most important factors. Tools also played a very important part. A player with a .300 BA and no HRs or SBs is not going to get anywhere here. From now on, I'll probably use this as a reference in regards ...
Originally posted on The Terrific (Minnesota) Twins blog http://terrificmntwins.blogspot.com/ The Twins obviously need to do something with their starting rotation next year, and maybe need to make a few adjustments to their bullpen too. Here is a look at which pitchers the Twins should have on their big club next year for sure, who should get a look at the big club or be on the radar in the minors, who should be evaluated after they recover from injury, and who the Twins ...

The new guys continued to impress in their second games with the Twins, and Scott Diamond put in another quality start, but on this night, there wasn’t enough offense and the team lost in walk-off fashion in the ninth. Scott Diamond started and gave up two runs on nine hits over 6.2 innings to keep his ERA below 3 (2.95). Alex Burnett got him out of the 7th, and Jared Burton worked a scoreless eighth frame. Tyler Robertson came out to start the ninth inning. He gave up two hits and a walk ...

As a self-proclaimed visionary, I had a captivating thought about moving Ben Revere to second base. Maybe all the outfield transitions to infield rumors, as in Darin Mastroianni, or the promising results of one in our minor league system, Eddie Rosario, had gotten a grip on me. The more and more I thought about moving Revere, the better it seemed. This is certainly a radical, risky, and perhaps crazy thing to actually attempt, but the results could be extremely pleasing. More over, I'm really suggesting ...
The Twins fell behind the Mariners early thanks to some more bad pitching by Nick Blackburn. John Jaso hit a two-run homer in the first inning, and Miguel Olivo hit a hanging curveball. The Twins’ bats didn’t do much early either. After Felix Hernandez’s perfect game on Thursday, Mariners starter Hisashi Iwakuma was perfect through the first four innings. In the fifth frame, Justin Morneau led off with a double. A couple of batters later, Matt Carson came up and singled in Morneau to put the Twins ...
