Twins Minor League Report (7/29): Berrios Injured For fans of the Twins minor league system, there were three of the organizations best pitching prospects all on the mound in one night. This is about as exciting as it gets, folks.

Rochester starter Alex Meyer had pitched five straight starts of six innings by allowing two earned runs or less. New Britain starter Jose Berrios was making his fourth start...

Glen Perkins: My Dead Horse

glen perkins, trade glen perkins

Glen Perkins: My Dead Horse My article last week suggesting that the Twins trade Glen Perkins (for the right offer) is one of the most read things I've written. Although there were only a handful of comments at Twins Fan From Afar , over here at TwinsDaily there are nearly 200 comments (most of them well thought out). MLBTradeRumors also linked to the article, and it ran in the S...

What The Twins' World Needs Now

Posted by PeanutsFromHeaven in Peanuts from Heaven, 29 July 2014 · 196 views

The trade deadline is looming over the heads of Twins fans right now. Like a honed knife's edge, like a hunter's net, like a disapproving parent at the doorway of a kegger thrown by their independent child: it's looming.

At least that's my feeling. And I admit it's a weird one. After all the Twins are sellers (again) in a seller's market (witness the hau...

The 30-And-Under Experiment (Plus Joe And Glen)

Posted by glp_vt in Blog glp_vt, 28 July 2014 · 176 views

The 30-And-Under Experiment (Plus Joe And Glen) It's over, folks. Time to throw in the towel. Again.

As we push past the trade deadline into the final 50-ish games of the season, conventional baseball wisdom would suggest that the younger players should be getting the majority of the plate appearances and innings. I say we throw caution to the wind.

Let's assume, for the sake of argument, that we fin...

Monday Morning Madness: July 28, 2014 Weekend Recap

Who won the most recent game? Those of us with a healthy recency bias are pretty high on the Twins right now. Everyone else? Not so much.

Logan Darnell ...sort of

Congratulations to Darnell for making his first MLB start on Saturday. He got lit up, but it's still a great moment for him. Darnell absolutely deserved this opportunity. He's...

Twins Minor League Report (7/27): Stephen Gonsalves Debuts In Mwl

Posted by Steve Lein in The Hanging SL, 27 July 2014 · 116 views

The Minnesota Twins were able to avoid the brutal 4-game sweep at home courtesy of their fellow AL Central bottom dwellers, the Chicago White Sox, after a Sam Fuld single in the seventh inning gave them just enough of a cushion for the eventual 4-3 victory. Glen Perkins made it interesting in the ninth, but struck out two to pick up his 25th save of the...

Throughout the past couple months David Price has had to deal with rumors of being traded. He already told the media about a month go that he didn't like hearing the rumors. He just wanted the Tampa Bay Rays to make up their mind. It's unclear if Price will be dealt because the Rays have less than a week to trade him. David Price is an ace and could be in...

Making Minor League Room

Posted by Shane Wahl in Field of Twins, 26 July 2014 · 285 views

I contend that there is no reason to keep certain players who are blocking prospects in the minor league system. I cannot imagine that minor league attendance is really driven by aging players.

From Rochester:

Chris Rahl
Eric Farris
Doug Bernier
Mark Hamburger
Aaron Thompson (potential add-on trade bait)
Kris Johnson (I know, but the future? potential a...

No possible way to win with these coaches...

Posted by huhguy in Blog huhguy, 25 July 2014 · 123 views

You can see it in their faces, when the Twins get behind..they quit...

and I believe the reason is that ....The coaches are constantly harrasing them..

By the time a player reaches the major leagues they have had a ton of coaching, when they come up..let them be who they are and see if its good enough.

Did the coaches ruin Aaron Hicks? Maybe..it sure...

Dinner with a Moderator

Posted by stringer bell in Blog stringer bell, 25 July 2014 · 45 views

While this isn't "My Dinner with Andre" or "Tuesdays with Morrie", I did have dinner with someone on a Tuesday. During Monday's game thread our very own "scene setter" and moderator Riverbrian noted that he was in Rochester. I work in that fair city and live just over 20 miles away. I contacted Brian when he asked about bakeries, and we agreed to meet f...

Lewis Thorpe Improving

Posted by Boone in Blog Boone, 24 July 2014 · 62 views

Over the past year, Lewis Thorpe has exploded on the scene. An unknown commodity heading into the GCL last season, he was so dominant as a 17 year old that he has appeared on various preseason Twins’ top 10 prospect lists. He has made even more news this year, skipping the Appalachian league and going straight to A ball from extended spring training. Howe...

Alex Swim Swinging a Hot Bat for the Kernels

Posted by SD Buhr in SD Buhr/Jim Crikket, 22 July 2014 · 13 views

The Cedar Rapids Kernels dropped an ugly 5-2 game to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers back on July 9 and Kernels manager Jake Mauer clearly was not a happy man afterward.

His line up had left eight runners stranded in scoring position on the night and played some shoddy defense in a loss on a night when Kernels pitching combined to strike out 13 opposi...
