Isn't Ball a little more out of the picture for the Twins than guys like Manaea and Meadows (whom you profiled in the last couple days)? He is certainly intriguing. Is there a reason we haven't heard him mentioned alongside someone like Kohl Stewart?
Yes, how about a rotation that includes BOTH Gibson and Deduno!?
I would prefer Gibson just because he is someone to hope on for the future. If everything works out for Deduno at best he is a 1 or 2 year fix. Gibson is a long term solution to this team's biggest weakness -starting pitching.
Thanks for this Shane, for the record I read your 1B breakdown and look forward to future installments.
Chris Colabello works for me. Doesn't play the OF, but that doesn't matter.
Hey! This article compares Walker to Stanton....and here is a quote from MLB.com's Twins top-20 list about Walker: " His body type and power potential remind some of Giancarlo Stanton, a fellow former second-rounder, and the Twins wouldn't complain if that's what Walker becomes"......! Only problem is that Walker was a 3rd round pick, not 2nd
I don't do this ever, but I have to say: sheesh, REALLY? This is not worthy of comment? I am finishing up the second base stuff for tomorrow, but damn. should I even bother?
Rock Cats have lost 8 in a Row! The season can get away from you fast. They need to put together a winning streak.
Buxton has been terrific, but it is probably the correct move to keep him at Cedar Rapids at least until midseason. How many MiLB teams have won 30 games. I'm guessing there aren't many in affiliated baseball.
I think it should be either Manaea or Braden Shipley. I think Manaea has the higher upside. I have to admit the injury problems concern me a bit on him as we have been burned on them in the past. Shipley is a nice pitcher but does not project to be a top of the rotation guy. Kohl Stewart is intriguing, but probably expensive, and high school pitchers carry significant risk.
And maybe Ryan feels the same way about him as other scouts, too much risk. We will find out
Looks like Adam Walker will be top-20 following this season. Maybe even top-10.

At least one person had the foresight to list Z. Jones and Baxendale in the top-20 of Twins prospects. This list was intended to be the "picture" post 2013. And its shaping up pretty much dead-on
Jones is dealing at A+ this year, and still not on MLB's top-20 list. Neither is Baxendale. Whoever is running that page is not "on-top" of stuff.
Great report. Great read. Thank you.
I agree with every point you made and could not say it better myself. With the proper instruction - This kid will be the steal of the draft. Take a chance and draft him. He might even take a tad bit less to go number #4 as well - opening possibilities to taking another chance on high end second round pick. This is a draft that is built on High Risk prospects. Take a chance Twins - I Trust Terry Ryan and his scouting department.
You should of put a little more time into this list, what good does it do if we know names but have no clue where thay are projected to go and what kind of player they are? I know alot of these players and where they are projected but I dont know alot of them too, some people might have no clue who any of them are so the list is just a bunch of random names.
