Making Minor League Room

Posted by Shane Wahl in Field of Twins, 26 July 2014 · 0 views

I contend that there is no reason to keep certain players who are blocking prospects in the minor league system. I cannot imagine that minor league attendance is really driven by aging players.

From Rochester:

Chris Rahl
Eric Farris
Doug Bernier
Mark Hamburger
Aaron Thompson (potential add-on trade bait)
Kris Johnson (I know, but the future? potential a...

No possible way to win with these coaches...

Posted by huhguy in Blog huhguy, 25 July 2014 · 0 views

You can see it in their faces, when the Twins get behind..they quit...

and I believe the reason is that ....The coaches are constantly harrasing them..

By the time a player reaches the major leagues they have had a ton of coaching, when they come up..let them be who they are and see if its good enough.

Did the coaches ruin Aaron Hicks? Maybe..it sure...

Dinner with a Moderator

Posted by stringer bell in Blog stringer bell, 25 July 2014 · 0 views

While this isn't "My Dinner with Andre" or "Tuesdays with Morrie", I did have dinner with someone on a Tuesday. During Monday's game thread our very own "scene setter" and moderator Riverbrian noted that he was in Rochester. I work in that fair city and live just over 20 miles away. I contacted Brian when he asked about bakeries, and we agreed to meet f...

Phil Hughes... Hurt

Posted by Brian Mozey in Blog Brian Mozey, 24 July 2014 · 0 views

Phil Hughes had a short night on the mound sadly due to an injury. In the top of the fourth inning Chicago White Sox designated hitter Adam Dunn hit a hard ground ball up the middle. Phil Hughes was trying to get out of the way but the ball hit his right shin/ankle. Hughes couldn't finish the play because of the pain and Dunn was safe at first. After walk...

Lewis Thorpe Improving

Posted by Boone in Blog Boone, 24 July 2014 · 0 views

Over the past year, Lewis Thorpe has exploded on the scene. An unknown commodity heading into the GCL last season, he was so dominant as a 17 year old that he has appeared on various preseason Twins’ top 10 prospect lists. He has made even more news this year, skipping the Appalachian league and going straight to A ball from extended spring training. Howe...

Alex Swim Swinging a Hot Bat for the Kernels

Posted by SD Buhr in SD Buhr/Jim Crikket, 22 July 2014 · 0 views

The Cedar Rapids Kernels dropped an ugly 5-2 game to the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers back on July 9 and Kernels manager Jake Mauer clearly was not a happy man afterward.

His line up had left eight runners stranded in scoring position on the night and played some shoddy defense in a loss on a night when Kernels pitching combined to strike out 13 opposi...

The Tampa Bay Rays finished off a three game sweep of the Minnesota Twins on Sunday afternoon with a 5-3 victory in the heat at Target Field. Kevin Correia wasn’t able to continue his recent run of solid pitching, as he lasted just four innings and gave up runs in each of the first three.

In the minors, the starting pitching was the story of the da...

I'm surprised to note that I have not blogged about an all-star game in three years. Not in Kansas City, nor in New York. Maybe I was actually off living my life. But with the game in the Twin Cities, I was eager to both celebrate the festivities in person, and wa...
