Attachment 2716 It has been another interesting week for Twins prospects who are playing in the Winter Leagues. Jp Arencibia? might be a good bench/DH if willingham dealed away
Over the weekend, seven members of the Twins farm system were part of a championship in the Arizona Fall League. Their team, the Peoria Javelinas, took the title in a championship contest that saw no runs scored in the final six innings. By the end of the game, the Javelinas were able to celebrate on the field and prospects for the Twins were right in the middle of all of the excitement. The only member of the Twins to start in the game was Nate Roberts, the 2012 AFL batting champion. ...
The free agent market has been slow to develop early in the offseason, with very few high-profile signings in the books as Thanksgiving approaches. Things should start kicking into gear now that the Winter Meetings are just two weeks away, but it's worth wondering whether the first few contracts are indicators of how the offseason climate will shape up once the dominos really begin to fall. When the Cubs lured Scott Baker away from the Twins earlier in the ...
Aaron and John are at GleeManor being filmed for a documentary and talk about Scott Baker signing with the Cubs, Torii Hunter's post-Twins career and return to the AL Central, poor Mike Redmond, how the local media has and hasn't changed in their decade of blogging, why the Tigers and Blue Jays seem more willing to make big moves than the Twins, and their planned trip to see Hannibal Buress. Here are: the podcaststhe rss feed if you want to subscribe ...
Episode 13 of the Twins baseball podcast, Talk To Contact (@TalkToContact), is now available for download via iTunes or by clicking here. (This woman allegedly wants to give us 7.5 million. Listen to the podcast for the details! Woot!) This week Paul and I take a look at Twins prospect (?) Daniel Ortiz and Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew. We again field a bunch of questions from the interwebs. ...
Even though we’ve suffered through a painfully uneventful first half of November, there is still a lot left to do before the end of the month. The Twins will have to have their 40-man roster set in advance of the Rule V draft by Tuesday. At this point, there are really only two slam-dunk additions and they are OF Aaron Hicks and SP Kyle Gibson. After those two the picture becomes much less clear. In the history of the Rule V draft, the vast majority of players taken are ...

In recent weeks, several more Twins prospect rankings came out. In the past two weeks, Baseball America and Baseball Prospectus added their Top 10 Twins rankings. Here is a compilation of Twins prospect rankings. Feel free to discuss and compare. If you know of other lists we should add to this, please link to them in the Comments. ...

Back in the 1993 when the Twins drafted a high school outfielder from Arkansas, there was plenty of hope surrounding his future. The greatest player in franchise history, Kirby Puckett, was manning the outfield for the current team and this new athletic young man was in line to be his heir apparent. Puckett's career would be cut short in the coming years but Torii Hunter would lead a revitalization of the Twins franchise in the 2000s. Two decades ...
Why it is bad for toronto. The reason behind this article is due to the recent trade between Miami and Toronto. Also it is that all that I have heard in the last couple of days is that the blue jays are now contenders in the AL east. Which would make sense, because of the Red Sox continue to fall each year. Along with the Yankees new struggles in offense and in their starting rotation. But you cannot forget about the orioles, who shocked everyone last year. With excellent ...

I wonder if Mike Redmond will ultimately follow the path of Joe Girardi. Both are former catchers who got their first MLB manager gigs with recently gutted and very young Marlin teams. Girardi bolted to the Yankees after only a year with the Marlins that saw his team exceed expectations with an incredibly young and inexperienced roster. Perhaps Redmond will find similar success in getting through to young players and last only a year or two in Miami before he takes over as manager of another ...

On Wednesday, the Detroit Tigers signed former Twins outfielder Torii Hunter to a two-year, $26 million contract. On the surface, the Tigers paid a ton for his charisma, leadership and veteran status. Although he had a terrific 2012 season, including the first .300+ batting average season of his career, there is a lot of risk in signing an outfielder who will be 39 years old when the contract ends. That said, my first thought when I heard the news ...
