This information is invaluable for my trip on either March 18 or 21. I looked through Part II from last year, but I don't know how the timing of minor league activities and ML practice changes from an evening start (like on the 18th) compared to a mid-day start (like on the 21st). I'd like to see some of the minor leaguers before going to the ML game.

Thanks for doing these again Thrylos, I really like the insight into who seems to have the upper hand in camp battles. Keep up the great work!

Vargas at DH in 2015. First base is taken for a while

Love Escobar! saw him here in Rochester 5 or 6 times last year. Plays with a love of the game and Twins fans will embrace him. He has versatility and I think of Nick Punto with better bat, slightly less glove and no head first slides into first when I watched him.

Just got this. This is how Vargas looked yesterday:

    Hardly Fielder-like

Beyond a great play at first and the constant reports about his daily efforts at turning the Ft Myers BP batters boxes into his own personal launching pad, does Kennys pass the eye test as a an impact guy by 2015 in the Twins lineup?
Kennys is about a foot taller than Fielder, which makes the 275 ok. Remember Mo Vaughn? He is lighter even than Mo Vaughn. Ryan Howard/Adam Dunn/Papi type of build. He will be a DH, with Mauer at first, which will be fine.

He does pass my eye test Did you see how high I have him on my prospects' list?

Correia's name was tossed around on the radio here in Philly more than once today...

No. Worse comes to worse he has surgery, misses half a season and makes the team in 2015

It's hard to believe they will cut Correia loose, unless they're pretty certain that Gibson is ready to step up, plus, that the Twins are also reasonably assured that the #5 spot will be ably manned by Deduno, et al, while we all await a Meyer and/or May call-up at some point in the summer.

Escobar being out of options, it seems like Gardy is going to shoehorn him in to the utility role. Also, without Carroll, there really isn't any other current option behind Plouffe on the current roster at the Hot Corner.

That's an old picture He is wearing 70 (Sano 72, Vargas 68, Kepler 67, Polanco 78, Meyer 66, May 65)

This has been SOP for all teams. Is there a reason why you're unhappy with the FO of our favorite team?

Nothing new. This has been SOP for the Twins. I was hopeful that with the 2 good FA signings and the Pelfrey re-signing this practice would stop this season, but..

Fort Myers traffic is not heavy, other than the jams right before and right after game time, which are expected.
I did not expect the jams to be as bad as they were. I've been to A, AA, and AAA games across the country and Hammond Stadium had the worst traffic jams before and after games. I found out early that I should just go in a couple hours ahead of time and watch some B games (drink a few morning beers) instead of developing serious road rage. I think the lack of roads entering and exiting the stadium general area exacerbates the problem.

As a side note, I went to Sanibel Island and the water was pretty cold still. Plus, there were large populations of sting rays/manta rays (some kind of ray) traveling up the shoreline and I was told by some locals to not go swimming at that time, or really enter the water very far. They were visible from the shore. It was a seasonal thing. Awesome shell beaches made for some nice scenic views and sure revitalized the girlfriend though.

Apparently this formula is highly regarded:

    1. Acquire many, many average arms.
    2. Hope one of them shocks you with how good he suddenly is.

Agreed. Since 2007 there hasn't been a single recipient capable of sustained MLB success. No wonder the twins pitching has been the worst in baseball lately. These are our best/most successful minor league pitchers, and 5 of the last 6 are no longer with the team and brought zero return upon departure. Awesome.
