A lot of stuff going on and players moving around the last few days. I'm starting to think Ryan will overplay his hand the only deals done will be minor like maybe Carroll. With his age and contract that may make it a salary dump with a real low prospect coming back. Really my question is are they ready to rebuild or are they still thinking after over 1 1/2 in last place that this isn't a bad team, just an unlucky one. I just don't see a solid plan on what to do next.

Teams are saying the Twins want too much in return because they are used to dealing with Bill "Creampuff" Smith.

Storen is back--set up for now--a couple of mediocre appearances so far.

I think that a lot of what he is asking for depends on the team that asks.

    1) ditto
    2) that too
    3) ditto
    4) it was having the high picks plus several supplemental picks this year
    5) Exactly
    6) Both he and Jones were drafted this year
    7) If they do not get rid of him they will have to carry him with the big team next year. If they get anything for him or an improved offer if add him to a deal, that is a bonus. See: addition by subtraction plus a younger non-prospect for the minors.

    1) with all the injuries in his career, I really can't see anyone picking up Pavano in the offseason
    2) You didn't mention that Vargas hit a HR in his second AB as well
    3) I like Mastro, and when paired with Span and Revere make one fast-as-he^l outfield
    4) With the new rules for bonuses this year, it was a lot more likely that they sign more people with higher bonuses.
    5) If we could get that kid from the Angels for Liriano, hopefully that would be dope for us.
    6) Melotakis is doing really well, wasn't he just drafted this year?
    7) Not sure how adding Manship to a deal helps or hurts the Twins

Don't see why Ryan wouldn't want a big-leaguer for Morneau (hope to god that he is talking about a big-league pitcher), because when he is even as healthy as he has been this season he would be a dangerous bat to have in the lineup, a fairly good fielder, and a solid clubhouse personality, and despite the injuries is a "proven veteran hitter" (again, relative term).

Is Storen back? I thought he was out for the season. Alex Meyer would be nice but not sure that the Nats will let him go.

    Lombo and Meyer enough?

Living in DC--I know the Nats are interested in Span. They DFAd Rick Ankeil so they have an OF spot. Be careful trading with Nats--go for young Lombardozzi and a prospect or two--NOT Storen...

"Twins are asking too much" I would hope that TR would start high. Weed out the tire kickers and get to serious business. With so few real assets he better get good return. We need a serious talent up grade!

Oops... he is 28. Fixed. Thanks!

Thanks for putting the age. That is great info. But I think your age forSam Deduno isn't right.
    I think he is 29.
When I saw the age 23 I got too excited.

Indeed... The "hot" is kind of a mis-nomer. I have been doing these for a few years now, started calling them the wrong thing, so they got stuck. It is a cumulative performance list. Kinda handy to see overall performance during a particular season so the players who are steadily good (or better than good) are recognized... Conversly, with the not-so hot list, I am looking at season-long laggers, not folks who had a bad week or 2 or 3.

What is this list? Is it who's hot, or is it who has the best numbers for the full season?

thanks. Koch should be promoted. There is a pretty big difference between A and A+ pitching (and hitting) that really makes a whole lot of difference: A (like Beloit) and A- (like NYPenn league) pitchers can get by with one plus/above ave pitch and a secondary average offering. At high A, unless that secondary offering is above ave as well, they will get pounded. So hitters get much more and better secondary (ie. breaking or off-speed pitchers or cutters) stuff than at A or A-. It is a very good test. If you can dominate high A, you will be a major leaguer (even for a cup of coffee) unless something freaky happens...

And once Herrmann gets promoted to Rochester (any day now), the dominos will fall

Yeah, Koch should be promoted, right!? I mean they have to see what he can do against high-A pitching.

Classic thrylos garbage analysis to support his belief. Calling this crap "proof" is blatantly dishonest from an intellectual standpoint. Congrats, thrylos. Aren't you a genius!
