  1. Twins on Twitter - mid-June Update

It's been about six weeks since we last updated which people in the Minnesota Twins organization are on Twitter. Since that time, several players have started tweeting while other players are new to the organization. This list does include several of the Twins 2013 draft picks. If they choose not to sign, they will be removed from the list, of course.

Twitter is a great way to interact with players and with your favorite Twins bloggers. Be sure to follow the following Twins Daily writers ...
  2. Those Damn Yankees: The Cuzzi Call

Love 'em or hate 'em, the Yankees are headed to down in the beginning of July. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the first of three Twins postseason defeats at the hands of the Bronx Bombers, so we thought we'd take the opportunity to look back at what has been a lopsided -- but always entertaining and memorable -- rivalry between the two franchises. Over the next couple weeks leading up to the Yankees series at Target Field, various writers here at Twins Daily will look back at some of ...
  3. Gleeman and the Geek, Ep 98: Mr. Sunshine and The Grump

Aaron and John talk about their night in a Target Field suite, praying for Samuel Deduno, Oswaldo Arcia showing he belongs again, Clete Thomas subbing for Aaron Hicks, the Byron Buxton experience, Trevor Plouffe coming off the disabled list hot, grumpy Bonnes and sunny Gleeman, starting a team from scratch, releasing Anthony Slama, mailbag questions from listeners, and being chased by the cops. Here are:

Rapidly approaching the midpoint of the season, the Rochester Red Wings sit just two games short of the .500 mark at 34-36 after sweeping the four game series against the Gwinnett Braves this weekend.

Currently in fourth place in the Northern division, seven games back, it seems like it was just a month ago that we were wondering what kind of season this was going to be in Rochester, so what has changed?

    Despite ...

  6. Twins Minor League Report (6/16): Kernels Krumble

Coming into Sunday, the final day of the first half of the Midwest League season, the Cedar Rapids Kernels had won just three of their last ten games. Meanwhile, the Beloit Snappers had won eight of ten. Both teams have clinches a playoff spot, but both teams had a chance to win the division crown. For the Kernels to win the title, they had to win AND the Snappers needed to lose. So, what happened? Well, you’ll need to read below for that answer. Another question to ask yourself is; Did Byron Buxton ...
  7. Thoughts and Players to Watch

The Twins have played the fewest games in the AL (along with the White Sox) and after 66 games, they are about what I thought they would be at this point: They are in fourth in their division and are within sight of everyone but Detroit. Big picture: Fine with me, I want to see this team sell at the trade deadline, but I don't want them to be dreadful.

What is not fine with me is that the players I want the Twins to sell just aren't performing that well. Doumit (.288/.405/.692), ...
  8. Same Division, Different Worlds. (Twins versus Tigers -- Games 63-65)

History in the Air, Twins Hits Stay in the Yard (Twins 0 Tigers 4 Game 63)

The Twins played tonight, in as much as an official game occurred and they were there.

At least people at Target Field got to see Eddie Guardado and PR guy Tom Mee get inducted into the Twins Hall of Fame.

I listened to the first inning in my backyard, until the mosquitoes ran up the scoreboard in a hellish game of their own. I listened deeper into the game inside my house. I listened ...

    Joe Decker (1947)
    Chris Gomez (1971)

Right-hander George Henry ”Joe” Decker played for the Twins for four years in the mid-1970s. He was born in Storm Lake, Iowa, went to high school in Petaluma, California, and was drafted by the Cubs in the ninth round in 1965. He took a while to get started, pitching one year in rookie ball and two at Class A. His first good season in the minors came in 1968, a season split between A and AAA. He followed
  10. Twins Minor League Report (6/14-15): Friday and Saturday Scoreboard

A lot has been going on in the Twins farm system the last couple of days, and after missing a day for the first time this year, I'll be updating you on the last two days in game summaries and highlights.

Not sure if people will believe this, but I went from 11:00 a.m. on Friday until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday without being on my computer. I believe that is a personal record for me. I watched a couple of games at the state baseball tournament (check out this Howard Sinker blog on it, please) ...
