Hello Twins fans. Here's a brief look at what Dad and I discussed on tonight's Troy's Twins Chat. We talked about the draft that was held last week. We also talked about Pinto being sent down because there weren't enough at bats for him since the Twins signed Kendrys Morales. Also, we ccommented on Mike Pelfrey and Aaron Hicks. Plus we gave the pitching probables for the Detroit Tigers Twins series coming up this weekend.

  3. Twins Minor League Report (6/10): Shibuya Flirts with No-No

The Twins took care of business in Toronto on Tuesday night and most of the teams in the minor leagues were able to follow their lead. It didn't take long for Kendrys Morales to remember how to hit and Brian Dozier is putting himself into the All-Star conversation at second base.

Minnesota is in the mix for the playoffs and many of their minor league affiliates are fighting for first half titles. Every win is important so let's jump down on the pond to check out the action.

ID:	7770Coming into spring training, I don't think that Ron Gardenhire and the Twins were planning on bringing Josmil Pinto north with the big-league club. The young backstop had been awfully impressive with the bat during a September audition in 2013, sure, but Twins officials commented repeatedly throughout the offseason that he was still somewhat raw and his defensive game needed work.

That was a fair position to hold. Pinto was a bit of a slow developer ...

  5. Twins Hangouts: Tuesday, June 10.

If you haven't noticed, it's Tuesday again. This week's Hangout had been listed as day-to-day which, in TwinsSpeak, could mean a day, a week, or possibly that we'd never do another Hangout again. You just. Don't. Know.

  8. Thorpe, Romero Make Kernels Debuts

As the Cedar Rapids Kernels wrap up the final stretch of the first half of their 2014 Midwest League season, the parent Minnesota Twins sent them some needed starting pitching help in the form of two teenage pitching prospects.

Australian 18-year old lefty Lewis Thorpe and right-hander Fernando Romero, a 19-year old out of the Dominican Republic joined the Kernels from extended spring training last week and both were immediately inserted in to the starting rotation by manager ...

  9. Twins Minor League Report (6/9): One Runned

The big news today was that the Twins reached an agreement with Nick Gordon, the 5th overall pick in last week's draft, on a contract. His career will eventually begin in Elizabethton.

The other news was that Kendrys Morales had had enough watching and started the game at DH before getting pinch ran for late in the games.

  11. Interview with Red Wings Manager Gene Glynn: Part One

Recently I had the opportunity to spend some time with Rochester Red Wings manager Gene Glynn. In his two-plus seasons with the team, they've won at least 72 games each year, as well as leading the Wings to their first playoff appearance in seven years. In part one of our conversation, we talk about the blend of veterans and young players on his team, recently picking up his 400th win as a minor league manager, and why he chose baseball over basketball.

  12. Morales Signing Signals Shift in Twins' Mindset

The last time I can remember the Twins making a "win now" move was prior to the 2011 season, when they re-signed Carl Pavano and Jim Thome in an effort to recapture the magic that led to 94 wins and a playoff berth in the first season at Target Field.

You can argue that these weren't especially wise moves, but they were clearly aimed at a goal of short-term winning. Pavano, 35, was signed for two years and cost the Twins a potential draft pick. Thome, 40, was signed for one year. ...

Ugh, not great. The Twins got two pretty poor starts from their two most consistent starters and dropped two of three to the lowly Astros. Houston has one of the worst offenses in the AL, but they looked like a powerhouse last weekend. Oh well, it's just one series. The Twins did make a pretty significant move to upgrade their roster, so that's nice.

  14. Twins Top 10 Prospects: Post-Draft Edition

Minnesota added some top-notch talent to the organization at the end of last week. For the third year in a row, the Twins had a top five pick in the MLB Draft. Minnesota's farm system was already considered one of the best in the game and adding top tier talent can only help the organization.

My last prospect rankings were released in conjuncture with the "2014 Minnesota Twins Prospect Handbook." There have been some changes since that time as minor league teams are almost halfway ...
