Escobar has been one of the most consistent bats in the lineup and boasts the 3rd highest OPS on the team. ...

ID:	8092As the season progresses and the availability of real live center fielders decreases, Minnesota Twins manager Ron Gardenhire has been lowering standards for center field qualifications -- such as "he smells like a center fielder" and "he reminds me of a young John Fogerty". Chris Parmelee has been the latest infielder to play the most defensively significant outfield role.

There is no question that Parmelee is swinging a burning hot bat right now -- having ...
  3. My plan for the Twins going forward

Twins have proven by now they are going nowhere this year, so what is the plan for the GM going forward.
Most of the posts have suggested getting rid of players that will bring little in return, Willingham, Morales, Correria, etc. These players will bring at most a B- or C prospect and will be looked at a salary clearing.
    1. Twins look like they have a surplus of 2B prospects coming so we make Brian Dozier available to the highest bidder. He could easily bring a top 10 prospect or ...
  4. Talk to Contact, Ep 90: "It's like prevent defense with linebackers in the backfield"

You can download the new Talk to Contact (@TalkToContact) episode via iTunes or by clicking here, and if you want to add the show to your non-iTunes podcast player, this is the RSS Feed.

The Twins have struggled mightily on the road recently, but thanks to Kyle Gibson, they were able to snap the road losing skid at 10 games before coming home to drop two of three to the Kansas City Royals. This week we take a look at what's been going wrong for the Twins and what it means for the franchise ...

  6. Crazy Twins Stats at the Halfway Point

When Chris Colabello's season off to an insanely hot start, I remember multiple people commenting to me excitedly about how he was on pace for something like 200 RBI.

Some folks just love to extrapolate those grandiose "on pace" figures when a guy has a great first couple weeks. It's fun early season fodder, but of course, it's all utterly meaningless.

Projecting hypothetical full-season totals at the halfway point is a bit more sensible, because at this point we've got ...

  7. Twins Minor League Report (7/1): Early Fireworks Shows

    Welcome to July!

Minnesota's offense busted out the fireworks a couple days early with a big performance against the Royals. The biggest news of the night might have been Joe Mauer being pulled from the game with what is being called an oblique strain. Mauer told reporters after the game that he has been dealing with a sore oblique for about a week and it doesn't feel good. This is bad news especially since Mauer's bat had seemed to be warming up in recent weeks.

    The Twins ...
  8. From Kernel to Twin: Jorge Polanco

A little over a year ago, I sat in the Cedar Rapids Kernels dugout before a Sunday game and did an interview with then-Kernels infielder Jorge Polanco - the same Jorge Polanco that just spent the past weekend wearing number 11 for the Minnesota Twins.

Iíd been told that, of the Kernelsí Latin American players, Polanco was one of those most familiar with the English language. Since the only familiarization I have with a foreign language comes from the two years of high school French ...

They discussed soccer and World Cup trolling. Then they had the Idea to End All Ideas when they came up with a Kickstarter campaign.

Seth and Jeremy return Tuesday night at 9pm to wrap up the happenings in Twins Territory. We connected Monday night to make sure we could hear each other (we could) and to make sure that our internet was working (it was), so hopefully we have more success than last week.

Miss an episode? Well, they're all available on our webpage and iTunes.

We'll talk about Jorge Polanco, Chris Parmelee, the starting rotation and - as we always ...
  11. Twins Minor League Report (6/30): Max Effort

Monday was a pretty busy day for it being just a regular Monday in late June. The Twins left Texas on Sunday knowing that both 3B Trevor Plouffe and SS Eduardo Nunez were ready to be activated from the DL, yet no move was made after last night's game. And, from the sounds of it, all 25 guys in Texas took the plane back to Minneapolis.

Monday afternoon, though, the Twins announced that, to make room for Plouffe and Nunez, SS Pedro Florimon (Rochester) and SS Jorge Polanco (Ft. Myers) ...

Spring turned to summer a couple weeks ago here in Connecticut. We're beginning a stretch of 90 degree weather and high humidity. Over the past couple weeks, the Rock Cats played great baseball, winning a franchise record 11 in a row. As you would expect, pretty much everything was clicking -- timely hitting, solid pitching, and it certainly didn't hurt that Eddie Rosario were getting comfortable with regular game action.

    But, then, as ...

ID:	8041On Monday night at Target Field, the Twins will play their 81st game, officially marking the halfway point of this 2014 season.

As we reach this key milestone, the state of the club can best be summed up by a lineup decision that took place in game No. 80. In the final game of a six-game road trip, with the Twins trying to snap a five-game losing streak, Ron Gardenhire inserted Chris Parmelee as his center fielder and No. 3 hitter.

    Now, I don't ...

  14. Cedar Rapids Kernels Game 6/28/14

I made the trip to Cedar Rapids to see the Kernels game yesterday. I decided to finally make the trip because Rod Carew was there signing autographs and Chad Christensen (My Adopt-a-Prospect) would be playing in the game. Christensen looks a lot bigger than I expected him to be (listed at 6'3" 210 lbs). He played 1B in this game and is having a very solid season for the Kernels, hitting .292/.351/.438/.790 and leading the team in runs (48), SB (18), and is near the top of the team in most offensive ...
