  1. Valencia Vaults Twins Past Pirates

It's no secret that the Twins have really struggled offensively to this point in spring training. That remained the case on Saturday when, in this sixth inning, the Twins were down 2-1 to the Pirates. Valencia stepped to the plate with two runners on and uncorked a long home run to give the Twins a 4-2 lead. The bullpen held the lead and the Twins got the win.

For Valencia, it was his first home of the spring. For the Twins, it was just their third spring home run (Chris Parmelee and ...
  2. Shipley: Terry Ryan on Danny Valencia

John Shipley had an article this morning regarding Danny Valencia and shared some of the spillage of information gathered from general manager Terry Ryan in his blog.

Ryan on how he handles players:

ďWhen you get to know players, you hear some things on occasion that just arenít good, arenít right, that youíd like to do something about. I would never hesitate to maybe mention what we think about going about the business, what might be the right way, or how to react to

  3. Fantasy Perspectives: Minnesota Twins

One of my fantasy leagues started its draft this past week, so I thought it might be a good time to start writing a little about fantasy baseball. Another league is a weekly head-to-head, points league. Another league is only on the weekend. Iím in one ten team league and two 14-team leagues. There are ...

Plenty of factors played into the teamís offensive ineptitude but for those who did make it to the plate, Vavra felt that the approach was fundamentally lacking:

ďSome couldn't grasp that they couldn't pull every pitch or that sometimes it was better to take a few. As a result, they struggled.Ē
Despite some fans objections to the contrary, Joe ...

After former Twins third baseman Corey Koskie left before the 2005 season, the Twins had trouble finding a suitable replacement for years. They trotted out such names as Tony Batista, Mike Lamb, Joe Crede, Matt Tolbert and Nick Punto to name a few. Then came the 2010 season when Twins prospect Danny Valencia finally broke into the big leagues.

Valencia impressed during his time with the Twins (85 games played). He hit .311/.351/.448 with 7 homeruns ...

We have looked at the catchers and the first basemen in the Twins organization the past two days. Today, Iíll be looking at the third basemen.
