My best friend from high school and me stay in touch but seldom see each other. We decided we would attend a game sometime this summer and he called me last week telling me that he had tickets given to him to see the Astros--yes! The Astros--today. We met and had lunch and then attended the game. The weather was pleasant (mid 70s and mostly cloudy) and the Twins should certainly have had a chance since they were playing the worst team in mlb.

During the first half of the season, Jamey Carroll seemed to be showing his age. By the All-Star break, he was hitting .234 with a brutal .597 OPS, and he had long since lost his job as the team's starting shortstop. He was certainly making his two-year, $6.5 million contract look like a poor investment.
Since the break, Carroll has looked more like the player the Twins thought they were getting. After finishing 2-for-5 in the nightcap of yesterday's doubleheader,
Feels good to get that first win under our belt.
Solid outing for the Twins. It wasn't perfect, but we all know this isn't a team that going to be perfect. Pavano was good, but not great. Worst inning for him was the 5th when Bourjos got the inside-the-park home run. Willingham couldn't make the play. His defense isn't the best, and Revere might have made that catch. If Willingham continues to crush the ball, missing a catch or two doesn't matter.
Huge games for Carroll
