  1. Friday Links-N-Thinks

    The first two games of the season have been complete and I can honestly say I have yet to watch a single pitch. One of the problems was that both of the contests were not on any major channel and the other issues was the games were being played very early in the morning. I still don't know how I feel about the first two games of the season being played in Japan. It is great to spread the game to international markets but I love ...

  2. July Trade Deadline-- What if's. A look at options for 2013 MN Twins.

    by , 03-29-2012 at 11:36 PM ("And we'll see ya' ... tomorrow night.")
    I admit this is kind of ridiculous looking at this before the beginning of the season, but being bored after watching a horrible Golden Gophers basketball game, I wanted to take a look at the Twins options if they are out of the race and looking to unload, what that looks like, and what are the options for 2013.

    Free Agents for the 2012 season for the Minnesota Twins

    Carl Pavano (37)
    Scott Baker (31) 9.25M option
    Fransicso Liriano (29)
    Ryan Doumit (32) ...
  3. Position Analysis: Starting Pitcher

    Last year, the rotation was an utter disaster, with Twins starters ranking 26th in the majors in ERA and WHIP. Short outings taxed an already ill-equipped bullpen and frequently put games out of reach before the offense had much of a say.

    It's not hard to see why these pitchers struggled so badly. Beyond injuries that hindered performance, the starting corps posted a lower strikeout rate than any other AL club; allowing that much contact in front of a substandard defense led to a league-worst ...

  4. Gibson could be the 2013 Opening Day starter

    Original post from North Dakota Twins Fan
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The injury to Kyle Gibson's arm last year put a damper on what was suppose to be a big season in his life. At this point last year, there were many who thought Gibson only missed out on a spot in the rotation because the Twins had too many other arms who were already on the big league roster. The overall ...
  5. Two-Weeks-To-Opening-Day Roster Projections
    The past two weeks, I have attempted to project the Twins Opening Day roster. This week, we’ll try it again. I still believe that there are 20 “Givens” at this point, two weeks before Opening Day. I also believe that the five remaining positions are all pretty intriguing and could have several possibilities at this point, especially since there are some injury questions with Scott Baker and Justin Morneau.
    There are still 39 players in Twins big league camp which means 14 players need ...
  6. Twins Top Tampa 7-3 in Spring Opener
    This afternoon, the Twins made their official spring training debut and they came away with a 7-3 victory over the Tampa Bay Rays.
    This got off to an ominous start for the Twins. Starter Carl Pavano gave up a two-run, first inning home run to Matt Joyce. In the bottom of the first, David Price hit Jamey Carroll in the helmet with a fastball. Carroll quickly got to his feet and went to first base. (He said later he was fine. It was a glancing blow.) Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau each ...
  7. Fantasy Perspectives: Minnesota Twins
    One of my fantasy leagues started its draft this past week, so I thought it might be a good time to start writing a little about fantasy baseball. I will likely participate in three or four leagues this year, and each is a little bit different. One of my leagues is a keeper league with major and minor league rosters. It is a 5x5 roto league. Another league is a weekly head-to-head, points league. Another league is only on the weekend. I’m in one ten team league and two 14-team leagues. There are ...
  8. Blackburn shooting for a bounce back season
    Original Post from http://nodaktwinsfan.com
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    It seemed no one was safe from the plethora of injuries suffered by Twins players in 2011 as it seemed to hit every part of the roster. From position players to the pitching staff, there was hardly anyone who was safe from the injury bug. One of the players that missed a big chunk of the second half of the year was Nick Blackburn. In the midst of a multi-year contract extension, Blackburn was limited to 148.1 innings and 26 ...
  9. Organizational Depth Chart: The Starting Pitchers

    Minnesota Twins Prospect Handbook 2012 – Now Available as an e-book for $6.99 by clicking here. You can, of course, still get the print version for $13.99 by clicking here.
    Over the past couple of weeks, we’ve pointed out the organizational depth charts for the Twins hitters. We’ve looked at catchers, 3B, 1B, Middle Infielders and Outfielders. Today, I’ll take a look at the starting pitchers. Now, especially as I move to the lower levels, I won’t pretend to know which players will move to ...
