  1. Cody's 2014 Minnesota Twins Top Prospects: 1-10

One of the benefits of being a bad team for multiple seasons is the fact the Twins have been able to replenish some of their farm system with high draft picks the last two years. Add these players into a group that already included some top-notch talent and the future of the Twins organization continues to look bright.

Throughout the offseason there will be plenty of prospect lists released by a variety of media outlets. There are always differences between how people view the particular ...
  2. Walked-on Walker

Congress is still getting paid, but some 800,000 government workers are left at home to read twinsdaily.com. Hopefully, they paid their wireless bill last month. Speaking of injustice, I argue that Adam Walker’s good name has been walked upon in defiance of production!

I was pleased to see that Adam Walker’s official name has been updated on his milb.com player profile. It now reads “Adam Brett Walker II,” which is more fitting for the distinguished ...

  3. Twins Minor League Report (9/4): Rochester Romps

Night two of playoff action saw plenty of stories to follow in the Twins farm system. Rochester was kicking off their postseason run with a game in front of their hometown fans and Cedar Rapids had to go on the road. Fort Myers was at home but their season was on the line and a loss would mean the end of their title chances.

  4. Twins Minor League Report (8/15): Stewart Sets Career Highs

There were a few minor league moves to take place on Thursday. Outfielder Darin Mastroianni was due to come off the disabled list but he was in the middle of a hitting slump so he was optioned to Rochester. There might be a chance that he gets back to the big leagues this year but he had options left and it would be better for him to get his legs under him.

Outfielder Aaron Hicks has been dealing with a nagging injury. Rochester put him on the 7-day disabled list with a right heel ...
  5. Twins Minor League Report (7/21): Arcia, Sano, Walker Provide Power

More close games in the system today. With the deadline looming and all affiliates at the max, it will be interesting to see how each team is shuffled in the coming weeks as all of the affiliated clubs are in the playoff hunt.

The Twins, too, may be looking for help both sooner and later. Some of the guys on the doorstep fared well today, while others didn’t.

  6. Twins Minor League Report (7/15): Back...back...back...back

I hope you enjoyed watching the HR Derby. And by that I really mean, “I hope you enjoyed imaging what next year’s Home Run Derby is going to be like”. The best part about it being at Target Field next year is that you, well, don't have to hear anyone saying "back...back...back...back".

The Twins are obviously off for the All-Star Break.

  7. Weekly Links-N-Thinks

It wasn't the best week for the Twins as the team lost the rubber game of their three game set with the Orioles on Sunday. This was followed by losing two out of three games to the dreaded White Sox.

Even with the poor play, Joe Mauer continues to be one of the best hitters in the game (.519/.594/.704 in the last 7 days). Aaron Hicks showed off all of his skills in one game to help the team to their only win of the week. It wasn't all bad for Justin Morneau either as he hit over .460 ...
  8. Twins Minor League Report (5/13): The Return of the 'Stache.

Every affiliate was involved in a transaction today.

The Red Wings placed P Liam Hendriks on the DL with right elbow inflammation. OF Antoan Richardson will take his place.

The RockCats, losing Richardson to Rochester, get Deibinson Romero, who finally arrived in the States and is ready to play baseball.

The Miracle activated OF Nate “That Pitch Hit Me” Roberts and sent INF Joel Licon back across the street.

The Kernels add C Michael Quesada, ...
  9. Twins Minor League Report: Kernels, Rock Cats roll

The Twins got an excellent outing from free-agent pick-up Kevin Correia, who worked into the 8th inning. Unfortunately, the Royals strung a few hits together and were able to chase Correia after taking a 3-1 lead. The Twins failed to rally in the 9th and lost their 3rd “Home Opener” of the season. (But remain undefeated in non-Home Openers.)

  10. Walker: Rightfield Ranger

Is anyone else as excited as I am about the Twins 3rd-round-pick last June? I am talking about the 97th overall selection named Adam Walker. This guy barely made the top 100 players drafted in 2012, but his initial return showed immense power promise. So much so, that I wanted to upset some people (and bring joy to others) by comparing him favorably to Giancarlo Stanton. Dang right people.

  11. Saturday Night Minor League Lights

The Twins won both ends of a double header against Kansas City on Saturday but there was plenty of exciting action across the minor leagues. Let's check out how the Twins farm system fared as their seasons are coming to a close.

    ELIZABETHTON 2, BURLINGTON

In what looks like it will be a great Appalachian League Championship Series, the E-Twins lost an important first game to the Burlington Royals by a score of 3-2 in extra-innings. Angel Matta started the game for the ...
  12. Monday in the Minors

The Twins got big offense from their nine through four hitters and came away with a nice 7-1 win over the Oakland A’s, one of baseball’s hottest teams. Of course, the biggest story was the performance of Brian Duensing. The lefty gave up two runs (1 earned) in six innings. He gave up five hits, walked one and struck out seven. Quite the improvement over his mid-July start against the A’s when he gave up six runs on seven hits (3 HR) in just two innings. Casey Fien pitched two scoreless innings in ...
  13. 2012 Draft Power Rankings-8/13/12

Here are my updated Class of 2012 Power Rankings. In short, a few things that jump out:

    • Honestly, any one of the top three (Baxendale, Berrios, Jones) could be ranked #1. I have Baxendale there because of his unbelievable K/BB and K/9 ratios.
    • 11th round pick Taylor Rogers out of the University of Kentucky has now thrown a total of 140 innings this year (89.1 in college, 50.2 as a Twin). His numbers for Beloit, although not terrible, are significantly worse than the numbers he

  14. Sunday Minor League Game Notes

Well, Desmond Jennings didn’t get a double on the first pitch in Sunday’s game as he had Friday and Saturday nights. However, on a 1-2 pitch, he hit a home run off of Scott Diamond. Diamond threw yet another Quality Start, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough and the Twins lost 6-3 thanks to a late rally by the Rays.

In the minor leagues, there is a lot going on. Monday will be the final off day for New Britain. Not big news by itself, but it does mean that the seasons are wrapping ...
