  1. Minnesota Twins Fantasy Camp - Jan 2014

This week (Jan 3th to Jan 11th, 2014) over 130 guys (and four women) suited up in a clubhouse where real major leaguers spend their spring training and pretended to be ballplayers for an entire week. We were at the Minnesota Twins Fantasy Camp hanging out with past Twins greats that included the likes of: Bert Blyleven, Rod Carew, Tony Oliva, Frank Viola, Tom Brunansky, Kent Hrbek, Mickey Hatcher, Greg Gagne, Gene Larkin, Frank Quilici, Juan Berenguer, Ron Coomer, Rick Aguilera, Tim Laudner, ...

  2. Interview with MLB.com's Jonathan Mayo - Part One

Recently I had the opportunity to interview MLB.com senior writer Jonathan Mayo about the Minnesota Twins farm system. Since joining MLB.com, he’s produced an annual top 100 prospect list, several shows on MLB radio, and Around the Minors, a radio show that is all about prospects. In part one of the three part series, I talk to him about the Twins farm system as a whole, where certain prospects are on his top 100 list, and whether this year will be different for Kyle Gibson & Aaron Hicks. ...

It has been 79 days since the last time I wrote about the Twins. There are several reasons for this hiatus, a new job and a move to OKC chief among them. But it also had a lot do with the team itself, and the fact that there is only so much you can say about a team that has racked up 291 losses over the past three seasons (!!!). In a world where seemingly every baseball fan has his own blog, there are only so many articles to write about Byron Buxton and ...

  5. Twins Keep Faith with Berrios

After a modest season at Class A Ceder Rapids, Minnesota Twins pitching prospect, J.O. Berrios, will not participate in the Puerto Rican Winter League this offseason; instead, the youngster will get himself ready for next season.

The 19-year old recorded an 18.00 run average in two relief outings for Puerto Rico at the World Baseball Classic, striking out Robinson Cano. But playing in that tournament put Berrios a couple of weeks behind once he returned to Minnesota camp and ...

  6. Why you should never buy a Minnesota Twins Calendar

I have stopped using a physical calendar for sometime now. Mainly because I have a smartphone and I always want to have the calendar with me. Anyway this past year for the holiday season my own father bought me a Minnesota Twins Calendar. Then on Twitter this week I came upon the Mets Season calendar http://www.amazinavenue.com/2013/9/2...-mini-calendar

That got me to thinking is my Minnesota Twins Calendar just as worse? I will break it down month by month. ...
  7. Positives to take Heading into this Weekend

    By Joe Short

When Trevor Crowe hit that winning run in the ninth for Houston on Wednesday, Twins fans can be justified for looking for someone to blame. Having clawed our way back into the game with singles in the eighth and ninth, all reliever Brian Duensing had to do was take down three men – he got hit twice.

We fans betting MLB World Series are right to be disappointed with Duensing. In fact, the finger could also point to Liam Hendriks for letting three ...

  8. Who is Alex Presley?

In the recent news of the Justin Morneau trade the Twins have welcomed aboard a new outfielder to an already crowded outfield. Alex Presley is one (and now two, second is RHP relief pitcher Duke Welker, who also came from AAA) of the two players who will come over to the Twins organization in this trade. Out of all the articles I have read over the past few hours about the this trade I have always found myself saying the same thing after reading them, Who is Alex Presley? And why did the Twins ...

  9. Twins wait on Injured Deduno

Minnesota Twins righthander Samuel Deduno could be set for a short lay-off after doctors confirmed that he has biceps tendinitis which will affect his ability to pitch.

The 30-year-old Dominican complained of a sore shoulder after the recent game against the Chicago White Sox but fans betting MLB World Series are hoping it is only a minor injury that has been caused by the strain of pitching for six months.

Deduno has had a tough campaign since taking part in the World ...

On Saturday night, the Twins faced off against White Sox ace Chris Sale, widely regarded as one of the best pitchers in all of baseball in just his second season as a full-time starter. They countered with an “ace” of their own in Canadian lefty Andrew Albers, a 27-year-old journeyman who was pitching in the independent Can-Am league as recently as 2010. I refer to Albers as an ace not because I believe that he is one (far from it), but because just two ...

The Twins have announced that starting pitcher Nick Blackburn will have surgery on Friday to repair a torn meniscus in his right knee, likely ending both his season and his career in Minnesota. This will be Blackburn’s third procedure in the past calendar year, and he has been limited to just six minor league starts this season as a result. With the Twins holding an $8M club option for 2014, this will surely mark the end of his time with the organization. ...

Seven starts into his major league career, things have not gone as planned for Twins rookie Kyle Gibson.

Gibson entered this season as one of the organization’s most hyped pitching prospects in recent memory. That probably says more about the sad state of Twins starting pitching in recent years than it does about Gibson himself, given his likely ceiling as a number three starter and the fact that he is less than two years removed from Tommy ...

The Twins just managed to avoid the shutout Wednesday afternoon, dealing catcher Drew Butera to the Dodgers for a PTBNL just before the 4:00 p.m. ET non-waiver trade deadline passed.

Drafted by the Mets in 2005, Butera has spent the past six years in the Twins organization. He has been up and down with the club over the past four seasons, having played in only 186 major league games in that span (and just two this season). Butera’s value is ...

    All hail Lord Byron.

It took him awhile to adjust to his new Fort Myers digs, but Byron Buxton is once again doing man things. On Monday, Buxton was named Florida State League Offensive Player of the Week for the week ending on July 28th, further cementing his status as the top prospect in baseball. To celebrate his latest achievement, he went 2-for-5 with a stolen base and a run scored Monday night, pacing the Miracle to a 5-0 win over Scott
