  1. The Rise (And Trade) of Andrew Albers

Ron Gardenhire slowly walked out to the mound at Kauffman Stadium for a move that he didn't really want to make. Andrew Albers pitched into the ninth inning without allowing a run and it was his big league debut.Unfortunately, his pitch count had run up to 109 and it was time to get the bullpen involved.

It was a tremendous debut and it was hard to imagine things getting better from there... but they would.

In his next outing, Albers was even more impressive. In front of ...
  2. Liam Hendriks Deserves Another Chance

Plenty of Twins players will have things to reflect on this coming offseason. When a team has multiple 90-loss seasons in a row, changes are likely and some of those situations started to play themselves out. Minnesota needs pitchers to stand out in the final games of the season as the team tries to figure out the future.

Liam Hendriks is one player on shaky ground for 2014. The team rushed him to the big leagues as a 22-year old and struggles followed him since he got called up. Next ...

  3. Would a Johan Santana reunion make sense?

It has been five seasons since Johan Santana last wore the uniform of the Minnesota Twins. In the mean time, he has been dealing with multiple injuries and ineffective pitching performances. He missed all of the 2011 season as he dealt with a shoulder problem and he won't pitch in 2013 because of another should issue. Last season with the Mets, he tossed 117 innings with a 4.85 ERA and a 1.33 WHIP.

Not exactly the numbers Twins fans were used to seeing from their former ace pitcher. ...
  4. Twins Minor League Report (8/19): Pitchers Get It Done... AGAIN!

We've been dealing with dreadful pitching in the major leagues pretty much everyday since... well... 2011. Today was more of the same. In fact, Kyle Gibson was sent back to Rochester after today's outing.

There were some other minor league moves as well. A.J. Pettersen was moved from New Britain to Fort Myers along with Matthew Summers. To make room, Fort Myers sent Alex Swim back across the street.

On a positive note, those in the FSNorth viewership got to see a glimpse ...
  5. Twins Minor League Report (8/14): Atherton Sparkles

http://nodaktwinsfan.comThe Twins bullpen had been solid in recent weeks before laying an egg at the hands of the Cleveland Indians on Wednesday afternoon. Casey Fien gave up three runs and later in the game Glen Perkins and Ryan Pressly allowed some late inning runs. Joe Mauer had five hits and came within one hit of tying Kirby Puckett's team record of six in a game.

There was some exciting action this evening as multiple teams were part of walk-off wins. Not all of those walk-offs ...

I'm not sure what that means, but I guess it could signify that the Twins have vacated their position within the dregs of the league; a position they had held for the prior two seasons. Whatever the wins mean in the cosmos, they are enjoyable for us fans no matter what. Why is there ...

By virtually every measure, the Minnesota Twins are a very bad baseball team. Entering Friday night’s game against the Astros, the Twins offense ranked 21st in both runs scored and wRC+. The starting pitching has been horrific even by recent Twins standards, ranking last in ERA (5.18), last in xFIP (4.56), and last in strikeouts (302) by an embarrassing margin. Lastly, the defense has been mediocre (12th in DRS) to bad (27th in UZR), depending on your metric ...

  8. Twins Minor League Report (7/10): Stewart Impresses

The New Britain Rock Cats didn't have a game on Wednesday evening but multiple players from their team were taking part in the Eastern League All-Star Game. New Britain was also the host city for the event and there were plenty of ESPN personalities at the event since it is so close to the headquarters of the four letter network.

Danny Santana started the game at shortstop and was the lead-off hitter for the Eastern Divison. He went 0-for-2 with a strikeout. Josmil Pinto was the only ...
  9. Twins Minor League Report (6/30): Kernels Keep Winning

The Twins had a back and forth game on a beautiful afternoon at Target Field. Unfortunately, the club came out on the losing side of their match-up with the Royals. There were home runs from Justin Morneau, Trevor Plouffe, and Clete Thomas but it still wasn't enough. The bullpen gave up four runs in the last four frames for a tough loss.

In minor league news, RHP AJ Achter was transferred to Rochester from New Britain. It will be his first trip to Triple-A. Achter had appeared in 24 ...
  10. Twins Minor League Report (6/19): Sano's 1st AA Blast

The Cedar Rapids Kernels are in the midst of their All-Star break so they were out of action on Wednesday night. This didn't stop the Twins from announcing that one of their top prospects, Max Kepler, would be joining that club. He had been at extended spring training as he worked to recover from an elbow injury. The power hitting outfielder will take over a corner outfield spot since Byron Buxton is manning center field in Cedar Rapids.

Liam Hendriks was also reinstated from the disabled ...
  11. Twins Minor League Report (5/13): The Return of the 'Stache.

Every affiliate was involved in a transaction today.

The Red Wings placed P Liam Hendriks on the DL with right elbow inflammation. OF Antoan Richardson will take his place.

The RockCats, losing Richardson to Rochester, get Deibinson Romero, who finally arrived in the States and is ready to play baseball.

The Miracle activated OF Nate “That Pitch Hit Me” Roberts and sent INF Joel Licon back across the street.

The Kernels add C Michael Quesada, ...
  12. Weekly Links-N-Thinks

The Twins continue their longest road trip of the year so far with games in Cleveland over the weekend. A four game series with the Boston Red Sox is looming at the beginning of next week but Minnesota needs to concentrate on beating opponents from the AL Central.

To the surprise of many experts and fans, the Twins are still sitting around the .500 mark. The team recorded their 12th win on the first day of May. Last year, the Twins didn't record win number 12 until May 17 so it is ...

After finishing an eight game home stand at 3-5, the Rochester Red Wings took the short trip up the New York Thruway to Syracuse to play the Chiefs (Nationals). Last season the Red Wings won just three games in Syracuse, something that they would match in their first trip to NBT Bank Stadium.

    The Bats Come Alive

In their four game series against the Chiefs, Rochester scored 31 runs on 50 hits. ...
  14. Wednesday's Minor League Wrap-Up

The Twins weren't the only team impacted by the weather on Wednesday evening. Minnesota's affiliate's game in Cedar Rapids was also postponed due to inclement weather. The Upper Midwest is still waiting for spring to show up and there will probably be more weather issues before spring is finally sprung.

Three other affiliates took the field for Wednesday action. The Miracle were going for lucky win 13 to start their season. Rochester has been struggling and the call-up of Oswaldo ...
