  1. Trade Target Team Profile: The Baltimore Orioles

    The Big Picture
    The Orioles are currently seven games behind the New York Yankees in the AL East. However, they are currently 45-40 as the second half starts and that puts them 0.5 games ahead of the Tampa Bay Rays for the second Wild Card. The Orioles last finished with a .500 record (and last made the playoffs) in 1997. For that matter, the last time the Oís finished with more than 70 wins was 2005 when Lee Mazzilli was the teamís manager. (Mazzilliís son LJ was the Twins 9th round pick ...
  2. Concerns with Pavano's velocity continue to mount

    Original post from North Dakota Twins Fan
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Word came out over the weekend that Carl Pavano underwent an MRI on his right shoulder to see if there was anything wrong with this important area for his throwing arm. The report came back saying he has a strained interior shoulder capsule and he could need a cortisone shot after his start on Monday night. At this ...
  3. Ranking the best debuts by current Twins
    Original post from North Dakota Twins Fan
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    Dozier premiered for the Twins on Monday night and he seems to be making a mark on the line-up in this early part of his career. The debut of a player in the big leagues can be a moment full of anxiousness and hope. For most players, they have been working toward this moment since they were a child and the first steps ...
  4. Carroll, Span among best on defense

    Original post from North Dakota Twins Fan
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    There have been plenty of low-lights so far for the Twins with last night's no-hitter by the Angels Jared Weaver being at the top of the list but there have been some positives for fans to see in the first month of the year. Denard Span and Jamey Carroll have provided some strong defense up the middle for ...
  5. Friday Night Game Notes (Twins Win and Sano Shines!)
    The Twins improved to 5-9 with a 5-4 win over the Tampa Bay Rays at Tropicana Field. Denard Span, Jamey Carroll and Joe Mauer each had two hits, but it was again Josh Willingham who played hero in this game. With the Twins down 4-2 in the 7th, the bases were loaded with two outs and Willingham came to the plate. With two strikes, Willingham drilled a opposite-field doubles to drive in three and give the Twins the lead. It extended his hitting streak to 14 games. Matt Maloney, Jared Burton, Brian ...
  6. Lots of Thoughts!!
    by , 04-20-2012 at 03:47 PM ("And we'll see ya' ... tomorrow night.")
    AL CENTRAL
    Detroit 9-4
    Cleveland 6-5
    Chicago 6-6
    Minnesota 5-9
    Kansas City 3-9
    Any Surprises after 14 games?
    In my mind this is about exactly where I figured, with the exception of Chicago being lower by a couple games and KC winning a couple more games. Given the Twins schedule I predicted after 35 games 14-21, we will see where that ends up.
    I wanted to make a couple comments on a few thoughts that have been thrown ...
  7. Sunday Game Notes and Highlights
    The Twins took a tough 4-3 loss on Sunday afternoon to fall to 2-7 on the young season. The Twins arrived in New York City on Sunday night and will play four games against the Yankees starting on Monday. They then go to Tampa to play the Rays before getting to play the Red Sox. We all knew it would be a tough start to the season. Itís definitely shaping up to be just that. Down on the farm, the Twins affiliates went 3-1, and at least there are plenty of storylines to follow.
  8. What Kind of Fan are You?
    Itís the same with every team in every city, be it the New York Yankees, the Boston Red Sox , the Seattle Mariners, the Houston Astros, or the Minnesota Twins.
    Each team has fans that are willing to be patient, think logically and give the benefit of the doubt to players and front office personnel whose jobs are much tougher than it looks on TV. Each team has fans that are ready to jump off of a bridge with every loss, feeling the need to place blame on someone, a player, the manager, ...
  9. Rough Opening Weekend has silver lining
    Original post from North Dakota Twins Fan
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The Twins struggled mightily in their first series of the year against a team that is not projected to do very well this season, the Baltimore Orioles. The three starting pitchers for the Orioles looked like Cy Young winners even though each of them came into the contest with ERAs of well over 4.00 for ...

  10. "Opening Day is One Week Away" Roster Projections

    It's hard to believe, but after a long 2011 season and a very long offseason, Opening Day is just one week away for the Twins and the rest of baseball (except the A's and Mariners, I guess.). I have been doing these weekly roster projections for for weeks, and it's a lot of fun. As much as we like to think our roster projections a month out look pretty solid, it's impossible to know. No one could have predicted that Chris Parmelee would perform so well. And who knew with the bullpen.

  11. Two-Weeks-To-Opening-Day Roster Projections

    The past two weeks, I have attempted to project the Twins Opening Day roster. This week, weíll try it again. I still believe that there are 20 ďGivensĒ at this point, two weeks before Opening Day. I also believe that the five remaining positions are all pretty intriguing and could have several possibilities at this point, especially since there are some injury questions with Scott Baker and Justin Morneau.

    There are still 39 players in Twins big league camp which means 14 players need ...

    Welcome Jamey Carroll, the latest passenger on Minnesota's never-ending shortstop carousel.

    Since Cristian Guzman's departure, the Twins have opened with six different players at the position in seven seasons. Their Opening Day shortstops have ended up averaging 68 starts ...

  13. Can Brian Dozier Make the Opening Day Roster?

    Manager Ron Gardenhire wanted him up in the big leagues last summer. Teammates praise his leadership as well as his ability to do anything and everything needed with the bat. Pitchers love when he is playing shortstop behind them. How can Brian Dozier make the Twins Opening Day Roster?

    There are many things going against Dozier this spring, at least in terms of making the opening day roster. The biggest thing he has going for him is his play and his personality.

    Letís ...
  14. Who gets the 40-man spot left by Zumaya?

    The Twins took a chance when they signed Joel Zumaya to an incentive-laden contract. That high-risk deal could have come with some great rewards but Zumaya's time with the Twins was over before it even started. Only 13 pitches into his first workout with the Twins, he walked off the mound with soreness in his right elbow. Now the often-injured flamethrower will go under the knife ...
