  1. Buxton Out for Second Straight Game

Byron Buxton has been on fire these past few days and was looking forward to staying hot this weekend against Daytona and Brevard County. Sadly, he hasn't touched the field. Buxton was 9 for 15 on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday night, but Saturday and Sunday he hasn't seen the field. The reason why he's been out is because of Friday night when Buxton was hit by a pitch on his injured wrist. The Fort Myers Miracle are holding him out for a couple games to give him some rest and to ice that wrist ...
  2. Buxton Goes 4 for 6 and Stays Hot

Byron Buxton has been riding a hot streak at the plate since Wednesday. He went 3 for 4 on Wednesday night, 2 for 5 on Thursday night, and 4 for 6 on Friday night. Buxton just came off the disabled list from a wrist injury and has been looking good ever since. Last night he hit another home run against Daytona. This is his second straight game where he has hit a home run. Last night, Buxton had three singles, a home run, two walks, two RBI's, and three runs. It was a great performance from Byron ...
  3. Buxton's Hot Streak and Santana's Call Up

Byron Buxton continues to hit a hot bat. Like I said in my lastest blog, Buxton went 3 for 4 on Wednesday night's game against Daytona. Buxton carried his performance from Wednesday night into Thursday night against Daytona again. Thursday night Byron Buxton went 2 for 5 with a home run and a single. His home run came in the top of the ninth inning as a solo shot. The team would later win that game 7 to 5 with a save coming from Tyler Jones. It's nice to see Byron Buxton doing well after all of ...
  4. Twins Minor League Report (7/17): Kohl Stewart Looks Like an Ace!

The Twins didn't lose today, and they haven't lost a baseball game for almost a week! The Twins return to the diamond on Friday, fresh off the All Star fun in Minneapolis, and are riding a hot stretch, having won five of their last seven games.

With the All Star games over in the Minor Leagues as well, we have a full slate of Minor League action to discuss.

  5. Buxton Went 3 for 4 Wednesday Night

While the All Star break was happening for the MLB, Byron Buxton was showing why he should be in the All Star Game soon. Buxton went 3 for 4 on Wednesday night's game against Dayton. This is Buxton's sixth game since coming back from his injuries. Byron Buxton has been bothered with a wrist injury throughout the majority of the season. He came back in early May to play four games but then aggravated his wrist again to be put on the DL.

Buxton is ranked number one for prospects in the ...
  6. The Cloudy Future of Aaron Hicks

On May 24th the Twins were in San Francisco for the second game of a three game series. Aaron Hicks was the starting center fielder that day and this day would mark a turning point in his career. Whether it was a turning point for the better or for the worse, remains to be seen.

Ryan Vogelsong, a right-handed pitcher, was the Giants starter that day. This meant the switch-hitting Hicks was batting left-handed. Hicks would struggle on this day going 0-for-3 with a strikeout. He would ...
  7. Twins Top 10 Prospects: Post-Draft Edition

Minnesota added some top-notch talent to the organization at the end of last week. For the third year in a row, the Twins had a top five pick in the MLB Draft. Minnesota's farm system was already considered one of the best in the game and adding top tier talent can only help the organization.

My last prospect rankings were released in conjuncture with the "2014 Minnesota Twins Prospect Handbook." There have been some changes since that time as minor league teams are almost halfway ...
  8. Are we giving Aaron Hicks a raw deal?

Iíll start by saying that Iím not an Aaron Hicks lover. I canít disagree with Rob Antony and Ron Gardenhireís critique of his preparation, and Iíve always been an unabashed Denard Span guy (note: hugely excited that he ended up in DC, where I live now). But I do think we (the Twins-loving public) have been giving Hicks a raw deal by bashing the year heís having.

First off, the easy part: letís look at his OBP. I noticed today that, of the 32 major league center fielders that have 100+ ...

Without a doubt, the New Britain Rock Cats' most valuable offensive player this season has been Kennys Vargas. Vargas, a 23 year-old switch-hitting first baseman (destined to be a designated hitter), has been on our radar for some time, but has always been considered a work-in-progress. Yes, the raw power was always there, but the limited defensive ability, large strikeout totals and inconsistent spells kept

The Twins dropped a day game to the Tribe on Thursday afternoon, losing the four-game series three games to one. The Twins fell behind early and while they managed to pull within one run after the top of the seventh, the Indians pulled away for a nine to four victory.

Every team in the Twins system was on the road today, and the road was not a friendly place.

  12. Twins Minor League Report (5/6): Buxton Homers

In Mondayís Twins game, Danny Santana made his rookie debut as a pinch runner in the late innings. He would collect his first MLB hit later in the game. Tonight he got to make his first big league start at shortstop and he batted ninth in the order. He went 0-for-3 but he showed off his strong arm while turning a tough double play.

Byron Buxton has been trying to work out the kinks in his swing as he returned from an early season wrist injury. The first few games were rough as he ...
  13. Twins Minor League Report (5/5): Rock Cats Walk Off

The Twins started their road trip at Progressive Field on Monday night and got a stand-out performance from Kyle Gibson, a big hit from Eddie Escobar and, because itís the minor league report, the first hit of Danny Santanaís big league career.

Earlier Monday, the Red Wings announced that theyíve activated RP Deolis Guerra. The Miracle also made a bullpen swap, adding RP Brandon Peterson and DL-ing closer Brian Gilbert. In case you missed it yesterday, Dalton ...
