ID:	5043Left-handed relievers are a valuable if not under-appreciated members of society. You know, like oxygen. While they may seem ubiquitous and always available, a team could get killed if you don't have any.

They have a certain vampiric quality to them as they are seemingly able to last forever while continually finding work. Darren Oliver, 37-years-old, has been employed steadily. Despite mixed results, J.C. Romero has hung around baseball. Even with numerous ...
  2. Waitin' With the Wings: Andrew Albers

With the trade deadline coming and going, there could be some changes on the horizon with the Twins roster. These might not be immediate changes but the club is on the way to their third straight losing season and different players should be given an opportunity at the big league level. In the next couple of weeks, I will look at some of the names on the Triple-A roster that could earn a call-up before the end of the season.

This series called "Waiting With the Wings" will profile ...
  3. Lefty, Not Named Glen Perkins, Could Soon Be on the Move

As the trade deadline approaches in eight days, a lot of the attention surrounding the Minnesota Twins will likely center around Justin Morneau and closer Glen Perkins. Although the asking price is said to be steep for Perkins and the Twins appear content waiting for the right deal for Morneau, the Twins do have other players that teams have been calling about and it is possible the team may be more willing to move these players for a cheaper price.

  4. Monday Morning Madness: July 15, 2013

If you gave me a list of outcomes from this weekend's series with the Yankees, I would have ordered their likelihood as such:

    1. Yankees Sweep
    2. Yankees spontaneously combust; Yankee dust sweeps Twins
    3. Yankees win 2 of 3; Twins win game 2 because all Yankees oversleep
    4. Yankees win 2 of 3 fair and square
    5. Twins win 2 of 3 because all Yankees lock their keys in their cars
    6. Twins win 2 of 3 fair and square
    7. The universe ends abruptly
    8. Twins Sweep

Of course, watching the Yankees ...
  5. Anthony Swarzak could be key to the bullpen

When word came out following TwinsFest about the injury suffered by Anthony Swarzak, it had to be embarrassing. He suffered a fractured rib after wrestling with some teammates during the Twins annual fan festival. Swarzak would open the season on the DL and it was tough for him to watch the Twins fight the Tigers and the Orioles before he could get on the field.

Swarzak returned to the mound on Sunday and got four big outs for the Twins on their way to a second series win in a row ...
  6. 2013 Minnesota Twins Awards Preview

The Twins might be destined to finish at the bottom of the AL Central but there can still be some standout stars on a mediocre club. Every year it is fun to put on a prediction hat to try and figure out who will have the best season. This can be tough to do with injuries and other uncertainties.

It has been prediction week here at NoDak Twins Fan. This means a look at the National League, the American League, and a close up view of the AL Central. Most of these predictions are likely ...
  7. Our Minnesota Twins (Part 2)

Continuing our series that aims to answer the question "who the heck is that guy?" [both here and on our other blog]: we're here to tell you about prominent Twins, and we'll do it in the most Minnesotan way we know how: by providing you facts (player's background), fiction (the alternate background we used to dream up the photoshop), fandom (ways to cheer for them) and flattery (less positive cheers, aka Minnesota "Nice" comments)

    Let's get started!

  8. Rounding Out the Bullpen

Glen Perkins delivers for the TwinsThe past two seasons have been filled with disappointment and negative outcomes, but one of the few resoundingly encouraging developments has been the emergence of Glen Perkins at the back end of the bullpen. After fizzling as a starter, Perkins made a supremely successful transition to relief duty and, after signing a contract extension last year, he's in position to provide the Twins with stability at the closer spot for years to come, as long as he can stay ...

Here are a few of the offseason stories swirling as the Winter Meetings approach. Get yourself caught up on all the happenings from the rumor mill. Step up to the table because there are plenty of Twins tidbits to go around. Starting the countdown at number 8:

    8. Pat Neshek avoids arbitration with Oakland, signs a one-year deal
Neshek has always been a fan favorite in Minnesota and he had a rebirth with the resurgent A's in 2012. He had plenty ...

For the first time since before the Joe Nathan era in Minnesota, the team will enter next season with a homegrown pitcher as the closer at the back-end of the bullpen. Glen Perkins exploded onto the scene in 2011 and he continued that success into 2012 by being a dominant relief man for the Twins. All of this came after he failed to be a starter and it looked like he might be out of the system for the Twins. Back in 2009, Perkins and his agent had the players ...

One of the benefits of being a season ticket holder with the Minnesota Twins is the opportunity to participate in conference calls with current players, coaches, and front office personnel. Earlier this season, Scott Diamond and Trevor Plouffe discussed their breakout seasons with fans. It's fun to hear their answers to unique questions that might not pop up in a regular interview setting with reporters in the Twin Cities. There are also prizes handed out including ...
  12. Starting in September

The Twins have 41 games to go which seems like a lot. However, there are just ten days before we reach September when rosters can expand. With the Twins moves yesterday, outrighting Nick Blackburn and Tsuyoshi Nishioka, the Twins 40 man roster now sits at 38. This is great because that means that the Twins can add two players to the 40 man roster without dropping anyone else. Then again, there are a few players that could be removed without much heartache in Twins Nation.

    Starting Pitching ...
  13. Friday Links-N-Thinks

It's the first Friday in August and that means the trade deadline came and passed in the last week. There was plenty of speculation that the Twins might be in the midst of a fire sale with the team on pace for their second straight 90-loss. Denard Span, Josh Willingham, and Justin Morneau were some of the players that other teams asked the Twins about but all of these players are still with the organization. Francisco Liriano was the only player to find himself wearing a different jersey over the ...
  14. What if the Twins do Nothing Today?

Today is the July trade deadline. At 3:00 this afternoon (central time), the non-waiver trade deadline will come and go. The Twins have already traded Francisco Liriano. That was a given. The Twins needed to deal him before July 31 regardless of the 10 (or more) things that we hate about the actual deal itself.

What would your reaction be if the Twins did not make another trade before the 3:00 deadline? What if Terry Ryan does not get an offer for Denard Span, Josh Willingham or Glen ...
