  1. Friday Night Game Notes

    The Twins lost again, this time to the Tigers. They scored six runs on ten hits which should be enough most of the time. Unfortunately, Anthony Swarzak wasnít feeling well and it showed. He gave up six runs and didnít get through the fourth inning. Francisco Liriano gave up four more runs without completing three innings. Denard Span had three hits including two doubles, but it just wasnít enough.

    Ron Gardenhire was ejected moments after Jamey Carroll was ejected for the first time ...
  2. 2012 Day-by-Day - May 25

    Hitter of the Day:
    Sean Burroughs - 3B - ROC - AAA: 2-5 2 2B (3), 4 RBI, 2 R

    Pitcher of the Day:
    Tim Shibuya - RHP - BEL - A: 5 IP, 6 H, 1 ER (3 R), 2 BB, 3 SO
    If you look at the above line and ask me why he was the pick of the night, my answer would simply be "because I needed to pick one". In a night where no pitcher, starter or reliever, had a good night, I went with Shibuya. He was roughed up last start, so to see him bounce back to a "respectable" ...

  3. 2012 A.D. Twins Trade Talk

    While traversing the threads, blogs, and articles posted on Twins Daily, I really like that this site has sabremetric analysts, purists, extremists, and the alternative of thought. That is super great, but I am starting to feel that the whole trade scenario talk, speculation, and haphazard desire to execute could hamstring this franchise even more.

    When I was growing up, there seemed to be an imbedded loyalty to our favorite and best Twins players and they stuck around and we were ...

To this respect, I am presenting profiles of the top 22 pitching prospects for the 2012 MLB draft.

    I will be presenting these alphabetically, and at the end I will rank them. I will be ...

  6. That Certain Age

    As an 8 year old, I couldn't understand why
    GM Andy MacPhail would trade away
    Frank "Sweet Music" Viola

    I recently surpassed it. A couple years ago, in fact. The average age of an ...

  7. Ben Revere and The Real Estate Market

    The book on Ben Revere is that he is a slap-hitting, bloop-knocking, fast-running, somersaulting offensive contributor.

    In his first full season at the major league level last year, he demonstrated outstanding contact. Of course, the catch was that his contact did not go anywhere. Revere would drive the ball into the ground and try to leg it out. In fact, among those with at least 400 plate appearances last year, his 68.5% ground ball rate led baseball. When he did put the ball in ...

  8. Friday Links-N-Thinks

    Original post from North Dakota Twins Fan
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    The Twins have been playing a little bit better baseball and the team has been able to put together a few wins since the last time we were together for "Friday Links-N-Thinks." The rotation has been overhauled with a youth movement coming into the fold. The likes of Scott Diamond, PJ Walters, and Cole DeVries have been added to the roster to throw the ball over the plate.
    After the first game of the White Sox series, ...
  9. Thursday Night Lights
    The debut of Cole De Vries was a game with several ups and downs. De Vries struck out Alejandro de Aza, the first batter he faced. He threw a scoreless first inning. Then in the second frame, AJ Pierzynski got him. He was charged with three unearned runs in the third inning after an error, a pop up and a blooper. He then got seven batters out. Given a 5-4 lead, he went out for the 6th inning and served up back-to-back home runs to Paul Konerko and Alexi Rios and his debut was over. His line at the ...
    Game-by-game player notables:
  12. 2012 Day-by-Day - May 24
    I realized just now that last night's edition did NOT have the May 23rd game for the Twins. This cold is getting to me. Thankfully it's on its last days.
    Hitter of the Day:
    Justin Morneau: 3-5 2 HR (8), 2B (7), 3 RBI, 3 R
    Pitcher of the Day:
    Madison Boer - RHP - FTM - A+: 5 IP, 3 H, 1 ER (2 R), 0 BB, 3 SO
    I chose Boer not because he had the best line (though no one really took charge of that tonight), but after his struggles after his promotion from ...
ID:	1040Early in the season, Justin Morneau looked a lot like he did last year at the plate. That is to say: he was tentative, consistently fooled by good breaking balls, and generally ineffective.
    At the end of April, he informed the team that his wrist had been ailing him for the better part of two weeks. He sat out a few days, then ended up on the disabled list, returning on May 16th.
    It would seem that the rest did him some good. Since coming back ...
  14. Dueling Bloggers: Draft Debate (Part 1)
    As you probably know, the MLB Draft will be taking place in just a little over a week. There is a lot of draft-related material scattered all over this very website. Among them are a handful of Draft Previews that I've written. Recently, there was a lengthy thread started by "cmb0252" which is all about the draft.
    What follows is a tag team effort between myself and "cmb0252" (I'm not sure if he's ready to introduce himself to the world yet), which took place over the last couple of ...
