  1. In Memoriam: 2012

The end of a year brings about plenty of post about the top stories of the year. On Monday, I wrote a post looking back at some of the top Twins headlines from 2012. This included positive years from Josh Willingham and Joe Mauer along with some other news stories that defined the last calendar year for the Twins organization.

At the end of the year, it can be an important time to remember all of those that we lost in 2012. The 2011 season saw the Twins dealing with the loss of one ...

ID:	2989When asked how he feels that the outsider perception of the Twinsí use of statistical analysis is behind the rest of the game, Jack Goin, the teamís Manager of Major League Administration and Baseball Research, simply replied ďThatís fine.Ē

Goin cites the St. Louis Cardinals as an example of how he wants his operations to be viewed. Whereas teams like Tampa, Cleveland, Boston and New York have been well-known and forthright about their endeavors into the ...

I loved The Bullpen Gospels, Dirk Hayhurst's first book, so much that I went out of my way to recommend it to anyone who would listen. Unfortunately, I can't muster that much enthusiasm for his follow-up book Out of My League. In fact, I hesitate to recommend it at all. ...

  4. Road Trip to SW Florida: Day 1

Cars are packed. Directions printed. Snacks ready. CD on blast. 1719 miles to Estero, FL.

After a lot of time spent preparing for our trip, my wife and I began this afternoon and will arrive at our final destination by Thursday night. My wife begins her new job in Naples on the 7th and I will start to workout at the Twins complex on the same day.

Today we drove from the Twin Cities to Beloit where we are staying with my host family from the season, the Hatchs. They are ...

The New Year generally brings with it new beginnings. As we enter into a new year of Twins baseball, I canít help but think Twins Manager Ron Gardenhire might be a little concerned about a new beginning in his future. For the first time in his decade-plus tenure as manager, Gardenhire will enter the 2013 season without a contract extension in place that carries him beyond the coming year.

    Following ...
  6. Ring out the old. Ring in the new.

It's 2013, and that means that the Twins haven't lost a game yet this year!!

Yes, enthusiasm has been in short supply for the past two seasons, with more than a few loyal supporters questioning their allegiances faster than the Malfoy family at the end of the Deathly Hallows.

We peanuts have long been among the most sentimental of the blogging community. We sigh with memories of Johan and Torii (heck, we even mourned Boof Bonser and Brendan Harris). And as the Twins rebuilding ...
  7. 12 Questions With... Chris Colabello

Welcome to 2013!!! As we start getting excited about the Twins and their minor league 2013 seasons, we have a 12 Questions interview with the player that could arguably called the best story in the Twins farm system in 2012. When I asked for who readers would like to see an interview with, the name Chris Colabello came up frequently. After not getting drafted and then spending seven seasons playing in an independent league, the Twins gave him a chance to play some first base in AA in 2012, and he ...

  8. JC's Top 15 Twins Prospects

Over the past couple of months, a number of smart, informed people who spend a lot of time analyzing young baseball players have been publishing their lists of top Twins prospects. Since Iím not nearly as smart or informed about these players as others are, Iíve held off on publishing my own rankings.

(This article was originally posted at Knuckleballsblog.com.)

But Iím going to put my rankings out there today, for two reasons. First, Iíve now had time to read and ...

  9. 2013 Roster & Payroll Page

As we turn the calendar page from 2012 to 2013, itís also time to turn the page and look forward to the 2013 season.

The Roster & Payroll page has become a pretty popular destination for TwinsDaily.com visitors, so Iíve decided to make some changes to make it MORE informational (can you believe it?) but also more reader-friendly.

The 2012 page has been skinned down to the big-league payroll and is still viewable here (link not available yet...).

    The meat and ...
  10. Prospect list in depth, Part Two: 41-50

Here is part two of my detailed prospect list. This is where it tends to get pretty cloudy with a lot of reliever types, but these names either were or would have been in the 25-35ish range in the Twins system 2-3 years ago. That is a good sign.

    50. Dakota Watts (DOB: 11-16-87), RH reliever: Watts bounced back from a rough 2011 to have a substantially better 2012 and remain on this list. He still walks to many batters and that is going to be the main issue going forward. His AA performance ...

2012 has come and gone and there were plenty of story lines that comprised the year that was for the Minnesota Twins. After a decade of winning baseball, the Twins have suffered through back-to-back losing seasons for the first time since 2000. Minnesota has been the worst team in the American League for two seasons but there were still some signs of life from the hometown nine.

Willingham's monster year: Last offseason the Twins had a choice to make ...
