The Rochester Red Wings finished the 2012 season with a 72-72 record. I know that doesn't seem impressive, but when you haven’t reached that mark since 2008 and suffered back to back 90 loss seasons in 2010 and ’11, it’s a step in the right direction.

There was a buzz about the ball park Friday. General Manager Dan Mason said that he was “very excited” about the 2013 season, and why shouldn't he be? The team is heading in the right direction, ...

  2. My Top 10 Favorite Minnesota Twins (with pictures!)

Hello Twins Daily! I haven't posted here in a long time, and I'll be honest, I miss it here. Also, I am not at TwinsFest today like seemingly everyone else, so I started to feel sad and nostalgic. I decided to create a top 10 favorite Twins list. But, that seemed kind of boring, so I added a little twist.

  3. Assessing the Starting Pitching in the Twins' Organization

(originally published at The Tenth Inning Stretch)
    ---

For a baseball team to content, one of three things need to happen:

    1. An organization has to develop impact starting pitchers.
    2. An organization has to trade for impact starting pitcher.
    3. An organizations has to sign impact starting pitcher free agents.

I demonstrated earlier this month that the Twins' last two year abysmal record could have been predicted as earlier as 2008, based on the state of their ...

(originally published at The Tenth Inning Stretch)
    ---

Today the Minnesota Twins selected two new members to their Hall of Fame, LHP "Everyday" Eddie Guardado, and long time staffer Tom Mee. All Twins' fans know Everyday Eddie, but who is Tom Mee?

Tom Mee has been with the Twins' organization from their first season in Minnesota (1961) until their last title (1991). He was the first front office person hired when the Twins moved to Minnesota in 1960 ...

  6. Classic Picks Great Credit to Twins Trio

Last week, Team USA announced its initial roster for the 2013 World Baseball Classic, with two Twins stars earning a role in the team ahead of the international baseball competition this March.

Our reliever, Glen Perkins, will fight for a place against some of baseball’s best. He is one of four lefties in the roster that includes young Royals pitcher, Tim Collins and San Francisco reliever, Jeremy Affeldt, who pitched in the World Series last fall.

    Meanwhile, ...

Size: 30.2 KBEarlier this week, the Philadelphia Phillies signed former Twin Delmon Young to an interesting one-year deal. The Phillies set parameters within the deal that stated Young needed to maintain a certain weight in order to have incentives kick in.

As baseball observers may have noticed, over the years, Young’s weight would ebb and flow.

For instance, when the Twins acquired him from the Rays, he had slimmed down to a healthy 215 thanks to a hard ...
  8. Calling on Capps?

Will the Minnesota Twins re-sign Matt Capps? He’s still lurking out there.

As the offseason nears its close and spring training rapidly approaches, Matt Capps remains a free agent. Since the Twins bought out his 2013 option back in October, there has been very little buzz surrounding the right-handed reliever. At this point, one would have to believe that he could easily be signed to a fairly cheap one-year deal.

Should the Twins be the ones to give it to him?

    At the beginning ...

  9. Two-Ways and Jones' K's

Two-way players are rarely seen in today’s Major League of Baseball. Though, there have been some incredible examples in our recent and ancient past. I’m talking about a player that can produce at a high level on both ends of the spectrum, and can be considered a legitimate pitcher and hitter in the Major Leagues.

  11. For Better or Worse: Oswaldo Arcia

Tonight, Oswaldo Arcia will be presented with a Diamond Award tonight as the Sherry Robertson Award winner as the Twins Minor League Hitter of the Year. The talented outfielder had a tremendous 2012 season and is moving up prospect rankings. More important, he is putting himself in position to be part of the Minnesota Twins big league roster sometime in 2014.

  13. Worst Twins of All-Time Series: Matt Walbeck

As the weather continues to stay cold across most of Twins Territory, the baseball season continues to seem like it is light years away. This week's Twins Caravan and this weekend's TwinsFest will help to get fans back in the baseball spirit. It also means that it is creeping closer to the start of spring training. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

This part of the deep offseason can be full of a lot of downtime for baseball fans. Lucky enough for readers of this site, I have ...

On Tuesday night, one of the legs of the Minnesota Twins caravan made a stop in the Fargo-Moorhead area. The location for this event was "The Venue" at "The Hub." Doors opened at 5:00 pm but the event didn't start until 6:30 pm. The hour and a half "pre-game" was for fans to enjoy a ballpark meal of hot dogs, chips, and soda.
