  1. Sabermatic Analysis Of WBC Determines That Horns Have No Place At A Baseball Game.

This ain't soccer, folks. People have learned to use their arms and hands, there are no 0-0 games, and nobody has to flop around and act like they are hurt. Wave the flags and whatever, make your signs, wear your outfits, scream your lungs out....... but the horns are just annoying.

Sure, we’re missing the flying cars, moon colonies and hover boards but the fact that we all basically carry around personal computers/television sets that can make phone calls in our pocket is pretty mind-blowing.

Baseball, while it may seem archaic with the bats made from trees and game play which doesn’t involve a time clock, is actually progressive and embracive of new technologies off the field. Not long ...
  4. Friday Mailbag (3/15/2013)!!!!!

A recent report stated that the Texas Rangers are likely to trade Elvis Andrus if they cannot extend him. With Jurickson Profar on his way to stardom, should the Twins try to low-ball ...
  5. Twins Birthdays--March 15

    Wayne Granger (1944)
    Steve Stroughter (1952)
    Mickey Hatcher (1955)
    Mike Pagliarulo (1960)
    Dan Perkins (1975)

Right-handed reliever Wayne Allan Granger was co-closer with Dave LaRoche in 1972. He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts, went to high school in Huntington, Massachusetts, and then attended Springfield College, the same school attended by ex-Twin Glenn Adams. Granger signed with St. Louis as a free agent in 1965. He was a starter that year, but ...
  6. Friday Links-N-Thinks

The grounds crew is getting the snow off of Target Field and the beginning of the regular season continues to inch closer. Twins players continue to represent the organization in the World Baseball Classic while others are training in Florida for the start of the year.

It seems like Opening Day can't get here soon enough and it helps that Team USA keeps winning in the World Baseball Classic. Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau could help the Stars and Stripes upend the two-time defending ...

ID:	3511You’ll be hard-pressed to find anyone that doesn’t think the Detroit Tigers are the favorites to with the AL Central, including those who generate MLB futures odds. But Vegas has also tagged them with the highest over-under number in the American League: 93 games.

Vegas picked a similar number last year and the Tigers disappointed. They won the division, but they only won 88 games, and only their dominance of head-to-head matchups with the White Sox saved ...

    2013 Twins Starters Predictions

These predictions are based only on my gut feelings. I post these here now

Pelfrey - Will be fighting to recover from surgery. will largely be ineffective

Correia - A waste of money and time

Diamond - Will be fighting to recover from surgery. will largely be ineffective. May be a 1 year wonder

    Diduno - The ...

    2012 Stats: .267/.333/.440, 19 HR, 77 RBI, 63 R

Potential Backups: Chris Parmelee, Joe Mauer, Jeff Clement

It’s been so long since we’ve seen Justin Morneau at his best, it’s easy to forget what “his best” even looked like. In the two-and-a-half seasons since his fateful concussion in Toronto, Morneau has shown only the occasion glimpse of elite hitting ability. Beyond the lingering effects of the head injury, ...
  10. My Opening Day Lineup

Opening Day is a few weeks away, and Twins fans still don't have an exact idea of what the lineup will look like when the Twins take the field.

Many people have been discussing their Opening Day roster projections. I wanted to put this on the record so that I could say "I told you so".

    Starting Lineup

    CF. Aaron Hicks
    2B. Brian Dozier
    C. Joe Mauer
    LF. Josh Willingham
    1B. Justin Morneau ...
  11. Twins Send Gibson, 4 Others to Minor League Camp

The Minnesota Twins just announced that they have optioned Kyle Gibson and Caleb Thielbar and also reassigned Anthony Slama, James Beresford and Kyle Knudson to minor league camp.

Gibson has really struggled in big league games this spring after a flashy start. Of course, this is no surprise in his return from Tommy John surgery although many thought that he would have a chance at making the Twins starting rotation. More important than where he starts the season, Gibson's arm is feeling ...
  12. Chris Colabello continues his fairy tale

One of the best stories in the Twins organization in 2013 was the tale of a 28-year old man that got his first taste of baseball with an affiliated club. Chris Colabello had molded himself into one of the best hitters in the Canadian-American Association before the Twins signed him to deal. He spent all of last season being the elder statesman of the Eastern League while showing off his skills at the plate.

The story of Colabello could get even better this year if he was able to make ...
  13. Spring Training Organizational Depth Chart: The Relief Pitchers

After looking at the Outfielders, Infielders, Catchers and Starting Pitchers, our final Spring Training Organizational Depth Chart will take a look at the relief pitchers in the Twins farm system. The bullpen was one of the better areas for the Twins in 2012, and could be again in 2013 although there are questions. The Twins have added some power arms in recent drafts, several are starting to move up the system.

As we have done in the previous depth charts, we’ll try to project where ...
  14. My 25-man roster

    Here it goes:

    Hicks, CF
    Mauer, C
    Willingham, LF
    Morneau, 1B
    Doumit, DH
    Plouffe, 3B
    Parmelee, RF
    Dozier, 2B
    Florimon, SS

    Bench: Carroll, Escobar, Boggs, Ramirez/Colabello

Note: I don't care about Dozier and Florimon at the bottom (Carroll will fill in), I like a Hicks-Mauer-Willingham first inning a great deal.
