Címon, you can admit it Ė itís fun to hate the Yankees. Let go of your stoic Minnesotan demeanor for one minute and confess: you enjoy watching those pampered Gothamites get their come-upance. If they want to act like a bunch of fantsy-pants in their own stadium, surrounded by stockbrokers and thugs (and stockbroker thugs), thatís their business. But when they come to our quaint little ballpark, some plain talk should inform them
Itís hard to believe that the baseball season is three months complete already. As we enter the month of July, itís time to take a look at the top hitters, starting pitchers and relief pitchers in the Minnesota Twins minor league system during June. We will start with the relief pitchers. Last month, there were not many strong bullpen performances, but in July things were much better.
One year (and about two weeks) ago, Michael Tonkin and AJ Achter were working out of the bullpen

Last year, the Nationals won 98 games, the most of any team in baseball. And though they didnít make it past the first round of the playoffs, it was supposed to mark the beginning of an era, fronted by top shelf, super young and (maybe most importantly) affordable talent like 24-year-old Stephen Strasburg and 20-year-old Bryce Harper.
Viewed through that lens, 2013 has been a disaster. But without those expectations, there is still
The story on the farm today was... RAIN. Rainouts, specifically.
ROCHESTER RED WINGS, NEW BRITAIN ROCK CATS, FORT MYERS MIRACLE and GCL TWINS were all postponed.
CEDAR RAPIDS KERNELS 6, PEORIA CHIEFS 3
Mike Pelfrey packed his family up in the Cities yesterday and made the trek down to Cedar Rapids for a rehab start today. In six frames, he allowed two runs (one home run) and struck out six. He reportedly
With the recent release of the MLB Futures game roster, it came to no ones surprise that Miguel Sano and Byron Buxton were on that list. Sano who was making a mockery of high-A ball and is now starting to catch fire in Double A. And Buxton who was also destroying low A ball in Cedar Rapids now finds himself in high-A and has yet to make a strong impact there (having only played 4 games there).
Now lets say you just became a hugely dedicated Twins fan and had no idea when or
On Friday Mrs. Peanut and I will go to England/Scotland on vacation, this means there will be very few PFH blogs coming out (I have a few scheduled to drop in absentia), but in preparation for that and as fine example of laziness time-management, I'm using a blog from another site: The Montanan Hooligans' World Cup Center since it relates to why I love baseball. If what I write makes you even slightly curious about more soccer writing, feel free to check that out...and know that while baseball might

Sorry it has taken me so long to get back on here folks, but Iíll give you my latest news here. Here is a review of the first half. It has been quite a whirlwind.
I arrived in Florida with my wife in early January, so I have been doing Twins related activities for a while now. The first change of plans occurred when I found I would be heading to Cedar Rapids to start the season. I was sent down the last week of Spring Training and began to prepare for the trip back up north. In the

Justin Huber (1982)
First baseman/outfielder Justin Huber had two at-bats with the Twins in 2009. He was born and raised in Melbourne, Australia and was signed by the Mets in 2000. He hit well throughout his early minor league career, reaching AAA briefly in 2004. He was then traded to Kansas City, for whom he reached the majors for a week in June and then received a September call-up in 2005. He had been a catcher in the Metsí system, but was

The Twins and Royals split a four-game series over the long weekend. It was an EPIC series! Well, it wasn't all that epic, but PHANTOM CAM made it a bit more epic. I'll be honest, I'd like to watch an entire game in PHANTOM CAM. Although, that would take a few years. Think of all we would see though! Here are some thoughts I have from the PHANTOM CAM series.
I believe Kyle Gibson made his debut
Aaron and John completely forget that it's their 100th episode and talk about Kyle Gibson's debut, what to do with Aaron Hicks when he's healthy, who Mike Pelfrey should bump in the rotation, being sad about Glen Perkins trade rumors, the demise of the Yankees, Polish pride, Josh Willingham and playing through pain, mailbag questions from listeners, Brad Radke's acedom, and sugar mamas. They sure arenít selling. The Braves only real competition in the NL East is the Washington Nationals, over whom they hold a 6.5 game lead. But theyíre unlikely to take that lead for granted. Last year they won 94 games Ė and got knocked out in the one-game Wild Card playoff. The year before they collapsed down the stretch, losing eight of their last ten games (including their last five), finishing one game out of the playoffs. This is not a
The Twins had a back and forth game on a beautiful afternoon at Target Field. Unfortunately, the club came out on the losing side of their match-up with the Royals. There were home runs from Justin Morneau, Trevor Plouffe, and Clete Thomas but it still wasn't enough. The bullpen gave up four runs in the last four frames for a tough loss.
In minor league news, RHP AJ Achter was transferred to Rochester from New Britain. It will be his first trip to Triple-A. Achter had appeared in 24
Kyle-a-palooza? Gibsanity? Gibsmas?
Whatever you wanted to call it, Kyle Gibson's debut on Saturday generated a palpable buzz throughout Twins Territory. Eagerly awaited and long overdue, the rookie's arrival aids a pitching staff amidst its third straight year of sub-mediocrity.
He doesn't profile as one of the league's elite pitchers, but Gibson is likely the best pitching prospect to graduate from the Twins' system since Matt Garza in 2006,
