  1. We Interrupt This Blog

Due to a family situation, I have not been able to publish Twins birthday biographies. I hope to be back doing so Monday or Tuesday. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

I hope everyone had a fun and leisurely 4th. I kept it cool, just hanging out in my house and laying low. I watched the Twins game yesterday and I was saddened by Kyle Gibson's performance. I think he'll bounce back, but seeing him struggle was a good reminder that he is a rookie and there will be growing pains. Enough analysis, I'm here to answer questions from myself.

    Carlos Gomez ...
  3. Gibson the Saviour? Not Hardly

Not only was he bad in start 2, he wasnt that good in start one

Maybe he will be ok one day, but dont hold your breath
  4. Twins Minor League Report (7/4): Power and Pitching Help Kernels

Adam Brett Walker knows his role on this Cedar Rapids Kernels team, and on the 4th of July, he came through. ďMy main goal this year was to drive in runs. I think thatís kind of a main part for me. When runners are on, runners in scoring position, I try to have a quality at bat.Ē

Walker came to the plate in the bottom of the 2nd inning of a scoreless game with Max Kepler on first base. Walker crushed the first pitch over the wall in left center field, and the ball likely didnít get
  5. Trade Talk: The New York Mets

    Buyers or Sellers
As we sit here in early July, the Mets are about a dozen games behind the Atlanta Braves in the NL East. They are more than a half-dozen games behind the Washington Nationals for second in the division. In fact, they have the second-worst record in the National League, ahead of only the Miami Marlins. If the 2014 MLB draft order were selected today, the Mets would draft fifth overall. There is no question that the Mets will, or at least should, attempt to be Sellers in July. ...
  6. Family Trip to the East Coast: 7 Games in 10 Days

    Here's the agenda:

July 5: Twins at Blue Jays
    July 7: Pawtucket at Rochester

July 11: Trenton at New Britain

Plenty of stuff for the family to do, and two Frank Lloyd Wright tours (Buffalo, ...
  7. Q & A With the Kernels' Niko Goodrum

Cedar Rapids Kernels middle infielder Niko Goodrum was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the second round of the 2010 First Year Player Draft and spent the past two years playing for the Twins short season rookie league team in Elizabethton.

    Niko Goodrum

The 21 year old switch-hitter from Georgia got off to a good start with the Kernels, most often batting second in Manager Jake ...

Everyone was excited about the Pirates last year when they led the NL Central as late as the middle of the July. That was a great story, but this feels completely different. This year the Pirates are 20 games over .500 and were the first team in MLB to win 50 games. Of course, last year they were sixteen games over .500 on August 1st Ė and STILL managed to finish below .500 for the 173rd consecutive year.

So theyíre buyers, but they ...
  9. Is Plouffe worth keeping?

With the end of July getting closer and closer each day it brings forth the question; are the Twins buyers or sellers? Well from a fanís perspective you always want your team to be buyers rather than sellers. (Címon who wants to see their favorite player get traded). But there is a very good chance that the Twins will be sellers this year. And for that their are many possibilities for the Twins. So many that I will not be covering them all, and someone else will most likely do so on this website. ...

  10. Twins Minor League Report (7/3): Red Wings and Miracle Fireworks

Many of the Twins minor league affiliates celebrated Independence Day early with offensive explosions. The Red Wings and the Miracle had men up and down their line-ups knock in runs to help their clubs to come out victorious.

There were a few minor league news and notes that took place on Wednesday afternoon. Catcher Danny Lehmann was released by the club after spending time on the disable list this season. He had only played 18 games this season and he was a career .229/.317/.301 ...
  11. Wimmers, Bard and Chargois

Any update on any of these 3? I am starting to get worried about Bard especially. In over a year as a professional he has thrown 7 innings. I hope that Wimmers can follow the Gibson recovery plan and can get back on the mound for a hand full of starts this year and then go to the AZL.
  12. When will it end?

For the first two games of this Yankees-Twins series, the Twins went off early by scoring 3 runs in last nights game, then only being able to score one more the rest of the game (thanks to a Parmalee solo shot). Then allowing the Yankees to not only tie the game with 3 unanswered runs, but let them carry on with their rain of terror by scoring 7 more ending in a blowout over the Twins.

Following that up was the next night with- what do you know- the same result occurring. The only ...

  13. 2013 American League All-Star Picks

    Down the stretch they come!

Well, at least as far as voting goes for the 2013 MLB All-Star Game in New York City. There can be some debate over who should make the club. Some voters like to pick out the players that have had the best first half of a season in 2013. Others look at the last calendar year and try and pick out the rosters based on those performances.

Today I break down the American League roster. There are some tough decisions at a couple positions but there ...

Just one day after trading away Rick Aguilera, one of the more popular players on the Twins team, General Manager Terry Ryan's bloodlust was cresting and he was hungry for another trade. Who would be his next victim?

    The Trade: BREAKDOWN!

The Minnesota Twins traded Scott Erickson to the Baltimore Orioles for Scott Klingenbeck ...
