A night after the Twins and the Twins minor league affiliates went 6-0, the organization went 1-4 on the final night in May. The two upper affiliates both played one-run games.

On Saturday, the Twins Dominican Summer League team will open up its season. We may have to do a game report or two this weekend. Also coming will be the Twins minor league hitter, starting pitcher and relief pitcher of the month reports.

The Twins did make some transactions in the minor leagues ...

  2. Twins Minor League Report (5/30): Power Surge

It is a rarity when the Minnesota Twins get wins because of the home run ball. That was the case for the hometown nine on Thursday night. It was a trend that carried down through the Twins farm system as there were several big home runs. The Twins got four homers in their win over the Brewers. The Red Wings hit four home runs in their game. The Miracle got three home runs, including a huge, late-inning one. The Kernels had a significant home run in each game of their double header. Of course, youíre ...

  3. Seth's Pre-Draft Twins Top 52 Prospects

Each year, I try to do a Minnesota Twins Top 52 Prospect list right before the draft. That way, we're looking at players who have (generally) now been in the organization for at least a year. It can also give you a sense of which positions have some strength. Through nearly two months of the season, there have been several very impressive performances throughout the organization. Many of the top prospects are in the lower levels, but when you put together this list, you see that there are a few ...

  4. Twins Minor League Report (5/28): Pitching the 2012 Draft Arms

We are all very excited about the potential of Jose (JO) Berrios. DJ Baxendale has been the best pitcher in the Twins organization to this point in the season. Tyler Duffey has been strong and consistent through the year. Two other 2012 draft picks made impressive starts in the Twins farm system on Tuesday night. 2nd Round Mason Melotakis looked to end the Cedar Rapids Kernelsí six-game losing streak. 11th round pick Taylor Rogers looked to keep things rolling for the Miracle while putting up some ...

  5. Ramirez to 7-Day DL, Herrmann recalled

The Twins announced following the Sunday afternoon game in Detroit that outfielder Wilkin Ramirez would be put on the 7-Day Disabled List, a result of his collision in left centerfield on Saturday afternoon. As a result, the Twins have also announced that catcher-outfielder Chris Herrmann has been promoted to the big league club.

Herrmann has struggled in his transition to AAA. Through 38 games, he has hit .238/.311/.285 (.589) with five doubles and a triple. Although he has primarily ...

  6. Twins Minor League Report (5/25): Gibson's Latest Pitch

There were several stories to follow with the Twins minor league teams on Saturday. Kyle Gibson was back on the mound, looking to put together back-to-back good starts for the first time this season. How did he do? New Britain finished a suspended game and played a second game. Matt Summers was terrific in Ft. Myers. Jorge Polanco was very good and JO Berrios was back on the mound for the Kernels.

The big news of the night was that DJ Baxendale has been promoted to New Britain. Baxendale ...

  7. Twins Minor League Report (5/23): Baxendale, Darnell Shine

Iíve been following the Twins minor league system pretty much daily for the past eight years. I can honestly say that I have not seen a pitcher have a stretch like DJ Baxendale has to start this season. His May numbers (see below) have been incredible. But there were other great performances including a 22-year-old southpaw throwing eight innings in New Britain. And Ft. Myers continues to get offense from unlikely sources.

  8. Step Right Up...

It is now late May, and the Twins season is at a crossroads. The team has lost eight straight games as it embarks on a four-game series in Detroit against the Tigers. The season is in flux, and right now, the roster, specifically the starting rotation, is in flux.

Before tonight's game, the Twins will add Samuel Deduno to their 40 man roster and then their 25 man roster. Most likely, Tim Wood will be put on the 60 Days Disabled List. Following another poor performance on Thursday, the ...

  9. Twins Minor League Report (5/20): Sano Powers Miracle

The Twins losing streak went to seven games with a tough loss in Atlanta. Theyíll have to get over it quick for a noon game (Eastern) on Wednesday. Twins Daily has learned that Chris Colabello will be attempting to join the Twins in time for the game.

Virgil Vasquez made a spot start in place of the promoted Sam Deduno. Trevor May had one of the craziest line scores youíll see. One Twins minor leaguer hit a homer for the third straight game on Tuesday, and it isnít the same guy that ...

  10. Chris Colabello to be promoted to Twins

Though we do not know the follow up transactions (DL and 40 man implications), Twins Daily has learned from multiple sources that Chris Colabello has been promoted to the Minnesota Twins. He'll have a very early morning flight and hope to join the Twins for Wednesday's game in Atlanta.

It is possible that Colabello will take the 25-man roster spot of Trevor Plouffe, who was kneed in the back of the head on a slide at second base. He left the game and was clearly woozy. Likely Eduardo ...

  11. Twins MLB Draft Profile: Austin Meadows, OF

Today, we continue our look at players that the Minnesota Twins could consider drafting with the #4 overall pick in next month's MLB Draft. Today, we look at an uber-talented prep player from a baseball hotbed!

    Who Is This Guy?

It can be argued that outfielder Austin Meadows is the top-rated high school position player in the 2013 MLB Draft. It can also be argued that Austin Meadows is not the top-rated high school position player in the 2013 MLB Draft from Loganville, ...

  12. Twins Minor League Report (5/19): Gibson, Richardson, Colabello Star

The Twins and the Red Sox had a nice three hour rain delay, and fans were treated to The Sandlot during the delay. There was plenty of excitement in the Twins minor league system as well. One of the Twins top prospects almost made a little bit of history. One of the Twins minor league affiliates won on a walk off. A couple of non-roster players continued to make their cases for a big league roster spot.

  13. Twins Minor League Report (5/18): Great Pitching, Not Much Hitting

The Minnesota Twins may not have received a very good start from Scott Diamond, but all four Twins minor league started pitched very well on Saturday night. Each of them pitched into the 7th inning and gave up two or less runs. Unfortunately, the hitters from just three of the four affiliates scored enough runs to help their team win. By the time the Twins game got to the 6th inning, all four minor league games were done.

  14. Twins Minor League Report (5/17): Streaks and Walkoffs

One Minnesota Twins affiliate won 4-3, in 12 innings. Another affiliate lost 4-3 on an unearned run in the 9th inning. The Twins top minor league pitcher so far this season was back on the mound again tonight and didnít disappoint. Chris Colabello and Andrew Albers are two players that came to the Twins organization via the Can-Am League. They both have a pretty impressive streak with the Red Wings right now. So much happened in the Twins farm system on Friday that I didnít even mention Miguel Sano ...
