  1. 2012 Day-by-Day - April 24

It's late. I've worked both my jobs two days in a row, going on a 3rd. The Twins forgot to play tonight and thus my recap and commentary will be non-existent

Minor League teams won all 3 of their games. Rochester got rained out.

I'm going to switch back to posting a link to the Google Docs instead of "embedding" it in the blog post. Not sure who is reading this, if anyone, but I plan on updating this all season long, so if you read this and have a preference ...

Not much to say after game like tonight for the Twins. Down early, good comeback, Marquis gives up a HR to Ross, Capps gives up a 2nd HR to Ross to lose it. Thankfully this is only a few games the bullpen has let them down, however, this could also be a sign of things to come. We'll see...

Down on the farm wasn't much more successful. Rochester had a scheduled day off, otherwise the other 3 teams lost. No great single player performances. Everyone just had a case of the Mondays. . . ...

Twins lose the game, the series and the road trip. There are 3 games left in the tough 19 game stretch (if you for some reason include Baltimore). With a series win against Boston at home, they will either go 7-12 or 8-11 in those 19 games. Like I mentioned before, that would be acceptable in my mind.

Down on the farm, Scott Diamonds impresses against division leader Lehigh Valley, upping his record to 4-0 and is quickly becoming the favorite SP to be the first to be called up. With ...

Tough loss for the Twins tonight, getting outmatched by one of the best, if not most underrated pitchers, James Shields. With the help of his arsenal of pitches featuring one of the best changeups in the games, he goes 8+ Innings, 7 strikeouts, 2 walks 5 hits and 1 earned run (while Rodney was pitching). First game in a while the bats didn't come alive, which gives more credit to Shields. Rubber match tomorrow and the Twins are depending on Liriano's left arm and full mind to get the series win. ...

Another comeback victory from the parent club. I have no research to back me, but it seems to me this team has had more success coming back late in games and not giving up. Given how much was talked about losing character guys, especially Cuddyer, this group has really shown some fight early in the season. There have been a handful games they had no shot in winning, but others they ended up losing that they had no business even being close. Tonight's another example. After a devastating home run ...

Twins score early, but couldn't come up later in the game to get another run or two to get a win. Regardless, splitting the 4 game series in New York after the series sweep against Texas is a good sign. Starting pitching obviously needs a fix, and I don't see where that's coming from.

Down on the farm, the losing trend continues as it is the first day in the 2012 season that all 4 teams in the organization, MLB down to A, lose a game. Sano blasts his 6th home run and proves his power ...

Twins do it again in New York. Win 2 of the first 3 guaranteeing at least a split against the Yankees in the Bronx. Marquis struggled early on, understandably with his emotions of 1st game back after his daughter's bike accident, first game as a Twins and first start in New York, his boyhood team. Thankfully the bats were alive early and got him the lead. He held them in the 1st thanks to a double play, and they continued to stay in the game, but never got the big hit to take the lead. Capps made ...

Twins look like themselves at Yankee Stadium tonight, losing 8-3. Liriano has an awful outing and talk has started of what to do if he doesn't turn it around.

Down on the farm teams go 3-2 (Beloit had doubleheader after yesterday's rain out). Nishioka gets 3 hits (all singles) and 1 walk. Sano goes deep for the 5th time, and Chris Colabello has a 2nd straight great game at the plate for New Britain. 3 HR in the last 2 game. At age 28, he's obviously not a prospect, but interesting story ...

After getting swept at home against Texas, Twins go on the road and win in New York. Of course. M & M boys put up big game, now the team needs to put up consecutive games like that.

Down on the farm, teams go 2-1. Beloit gets rained out, New Britain remains in 1st place after scoring 5 in the 11th to win.

Another great rally from the Parent team to win their 2nd in a row, and climb OUT of last place!

Minor league teams went 2 and 2 tonight. Although Aaron Hicks didn't make my MVP for the Rock Cats tonight (Deibinson Romero hit to home runs today) he hits another Home Run and Double. This was is a very important year from him, and though it's still early, he's proving he remains a top prospect and should remain on everyone's radar.

    Here's today's day breakdown:

Twins get their first MLB win, overall a 4-1 day.

Please note, I am NOT trying to step on Seth's toes at all by the day-by-days, he adds good narrative, and he knows a HELLUVA lot more than I, or anyone not employed by the Twins do about the Minor League. This blog is meant just to be used as a nice snapshot of the system on a day-by-day basis (see what I did there?). So use them as you will, I plan on adding stats starting next week, but rely on Seth for his knowledge and recaps! ...
