ID:	8310What an interesting day in Twins Territory!

It was announced this afternoon that the Twins were awarded the 4th pick in Comp Round B of the 2015 MLB Draft. (This is fantastic news... especially for me!) Adding a pick like this will give the Twins around $800,000 extra in their draft pool.

Shortly after that, the Twins completed a Anthony Swarzak-led victory. And after that, Matt Guerrier was designated for assignment.

    Of course, ...
  2. Twins Minor League Report (6/30): Max Effort

Monday was a pretty busy day for it being just a regular Monday in late June. The Twins left Texas on Sunday knowing that both 3B Trevor Plouffe and SS Eduardo Nunez were ready to be activated from the DL, yet no move was made after last night's game. And, from the sounds of it, all 25 guys in Texas took the plane back to Minneapolis.

Monday afternoon, though, the Twins announced that, to make room for Plouffe and Nunez, SS Pedro Florimon (Rochester) and SS Jorge Polanco (Ft. Myers) ...
  3. Twins Minor League Report (6/9): One Runned

The big news today was that the Twins reached an agreement with Nick Gordon, the 5th overall pick in last week's draft, on a contract. His career will eventually begin in Elizabethton.

The other news was that Kendrys Morales had had enough watching and started the game at DH before getting pinch ran for late in the games.

Brad Nelson's home run to dead-center field in the 4th inning cut Gwinnett's ...
  4. Twins Minor League Report (5/26): Memorial Day in the Minors

    Happy Memorial Day!

The Twins returned from their west coast trip fresh off of a Giant sweeping. They were in action Monday afternoon against the Rangers. It marked the first game that Aaron Hicks played as only a right-handed batter. It also marked the first loss of Aaron Hicks’ career playing as only a right-handed batter.

After Sunday’s game, it was announced that both OF Josh Willingham and OF Oswaldo Arcia would be re-joining the Twins. Heading back to Rochester ...
  5. Top 20 Prospects

As the Handbook receives it's finishing touches - and if you follow Seth on Twitter, you know it will be available very soon - I decided that I should put my list on here to get picked apart. Seth and Cody already made their choices public, so what the heck.

    20. Francisco Romero, P
Romero is a long ways away and still has plenty of question marks, but the upside is evident.

    19. Kennys Vargas, 1B
I'm probably lower on Vargas ...
  6. Twins Minor League Report (8/19): Pitchers Get It Done... AGAIN!

We've been dealing with dreadful pitching in the major leagues pretty much everyday since... well... 2011. Today was more of the same. In fact, Kyle Gibson was sent back to Rochester after today's outing.

There were some other minor league moves as well. A.J. Pettersen was moved from New Britain to Fort Myers along with Matthew Summers. To make room, Fort Myers sent Alex Swim back across the street.

On a positive note, those in the FSNorth viewership got to see a glimpse ...
  7. Twins Minor League Report (6/17): It's a Miracle

It was a relatively slow day in the world of Twins Baseball with only two of the five ball clubs active. Though that didn't prevent us from hearing some pretty newsworthy things.

Twins first round draft pick Kohl Stewart is en route to the Twin Cities. In fact, at 9:28 pm, he tweeted a photo of Target Field from the Twins dugout. He's obviously not signed, sealed and delivered. But he's well on the way. I'm holding out hope that the deal gets done by tomorrow afternoon and he throws ...
  8. Twins MLB Draft Profile: Kohl Stewart, RHP

    Who IS This Guy?

Young Texan Kohl Stewart (6’ 3, 195) is widely considered the top prep pitcher in the nation. Kohl Stewart is also, according to ESPN, the 6th best high-school quarterback in the nation and is committed to Texas A&M. Stewart is equipped with a mid-90s fastball (an improvement over last summer) and a “nasty” slider. The mid-80s slider projects as – if it’s not already – a plus pitch. It’s a legitimate strikeout pitch. He’s ...
  9. Draft Board v.4.0 (5/22)

IT’S LESS THAN TWO WEEKS AWAY! Are you excited?

Version 4.0 of my “small board” posted as I am about to go on KFAN with John and Aaron to talk about… you guessed it… the MLB Draft.

A quick reminder: The Twins first pick (fourth overall) has a draft slot value of just around $4.5 million.

Though it should be pointed out – as I do each month – that the Twins very rarely deviate from the norm: In the last 20 years, the Twins have had 24 1st round draft picks ...
  10. Draft Board v.3.0 (4/20)

The draft is now only six weeks away. Some things are starting to come into focus; other things are as cloudy as ever.

A quick reminder: The Twins first pick (fourth overall) has a draft slot value of just around $4.5 million.

The strategy that the Twins select the Best Player Available early in the draft remains true. The Twins will follow that strategy yet again this year.

Though it should be pointed out – as I do each month – that the Twins very rarely ...
