    I agree oldgoat, time to sign some real keepers in free agency especially given the salaries and coming salaries. We could spend 40 million per year on free agency and sign those free agents for 3-5 years and most everyone coming up is going to be real cheap still for that time period keeping the payroll in the 100-110 range long term which is about where it ought to be

    The infield looks fine for the forseeable future with the exception of first. I'm convinced Parmelee isn't a major league hitter and Colabello will be too old even if he gets it together by the time we'll be good.

    * should probably note *
    The 'catch lightning in a bottle' reference is a tacky and tasteless way I refer to what I think the Twins do way too much of every year.

    My point? There just is not room to keep all these AAAA pitchers. We lack a true starting five yet have to start cutting in a big way. Thank you gentleman for giving us your best, good luck and good bye!

    It is appropriate to thank these young men and wish them well.
    I also think it is appropriate to move on. Sign some other players and try to catch lightning in a bottle.

    Perhaps today Pedro Hernandez is better than Minnie von Moocher, but Pedro is not a long term answer. Let's see how Minnie does.

    And I really agree that it would be terribly wrong to block any of the younger kids because we are hanging on to guys who have topped out at AAA. Tough choices, but they have to be made.

    In my series of posts, I omitted Relief Pitchers intentionally. I think that part of the Inn was not open this year as we actually sent out MLB talent and there were not AAAA placeholders in play in the bullpen

    Oops, should edit before posting... I forgot to mention that the Inn has closed for Jeff Clement at Rochester. I think he is elsewhere next season.

I hadn't thought about Oliveros because he has been hurt, but when healthy he misses bats, although he has never been very effective for an extended period. Also, you have him listed as a starter, but he hasn't started a game since age 18 in the VeSL.

    Only DeVries and Hernandez are on the 40-man. There is plenty of dead weight from AA through MLB, and finding roster slots for free agents won't be a problem. (Prioritizing might be.) There is always someone hurt and some of these guys are at the point where starting isn't working. Too many marginal players is easy to fix. I want to know who the good players are who will take their places - that's the real problem.
    I listed 16 pitchers for 10 MLB and AAA slots. That is 6 too many and with all the AAAA talent, a lot of names we have been hearing are going to be gone. It is just interesting to me (and maybe some others out there) to ponder who all will be gone and how quickly. Mostly since there is not much left to watch...

    Hopefully he can kill it early, get some management love and get moved up to New Britain by mid season but I am betting he spends most if not all of next season in Fort Meyers.

This year was ruined by injury and he can't hit like he has since he returned to the Twins, but I think that Mastroianni breaks camp with the Twins in 2014 as the fourth OF and a platoon option for Presley.
    No matter how you look at it, Mastroianni and Ramirez are only short term place holders for next year. Both are AAAA outfielders but Ramirez would make a better pinch hitter, fill in bat. A strong argument can be made for Mastro as a defensive sub and/or pinch runner. I had to choose one to cut, maybe I chose wrong...
