  1. Time to Get Down to Business

After losing 2 lefties in 1 day, the Yankees would
seem to be a logical desitnation
    for Francisco Liriano

After I not-so-closely followed yesterday's Twins debacle on my computer, I realized that this game was the turning point for me. ...
  2. One Reason Why the Twins Shouldn't Trade Josh Willingham

    Josh Willingham: Trade Bait?

Over the past few weeks, I have enjoyed reading various posts from other bloggers concerning the Twins' potential trade chips. Names like Denard Span, Matt Capps ...
  3. I'm Glad the Twins Aren't Paying for an Ace Right Now, and a Rock Cats Report

With no Scott Baker in the fold, and with an
ineffective Francisco Liriano, the future of the Twins'
    rotation is dubious, at best

Is tonight the night where Liriano puts it together??

  5. I Can Fix the Pitching Rotation . . . for 2014

Will this man-child ever throw for the Twins again?

  7. Camden Yards Recap: Twins Begin their Losing Ways, or an Aberration?

Camden Yards from the hotel window.

Well, the baseball side of things left a lot to be desired, but you're not much of a baseball fan if you can't have a great ...
  8. Projections: Francisco Liriano

[Originally published at Twins Fan From Afar]

To say that it's a big year for Francisco Liriano is an understatement. He's coming off an awful 2011 (except for that no-hitter), he's trying to prove that he can stay healthy for an entire season, and he's pitching for a contract, whether it's from the Twins, or any of the other teams in baseball that might be interested in a lefty with a nasty slider. Earlier this winter, I made my case for trying to extend Liriano before Spring Training ...
  9. Francisco Liriano, Glen Perkins & Friday Links

[Originally posted at Twins Fan From Afar]

The Twins' offense hasn't really showed up this far in Spring Training, but yesterday, Francisco Liriano had a great 3-inning start against Tampa Bay, striking out five and, most importantly, walking none. Additionally, the three innings took only 34 pitches to get through. Sure, many in Tampa Bay's lineup weren't major league hitters, but it's still encouraging and hopefully is a sign of things to come.

    The big Twins news ...
  10. General Manager for a Day: Undo a Recent Twins Move, or Make One they Failed to Make

[Originally posted at Twins Fan From Afar]

I try to be a (mostly) practical Twins fan. I knew the Twins would never go after Albert Pujols. Last year, I wrote that I thought that Jose Reyes would be a good fit at shortstop, but realistically knew that the pieces would never fall into place for him to come to Minnesota. And, now I'm optimistic about Brian Dozier. Sure, I guess it's fun to dream (and even write) about those big free agent signings every now and then, but that doesn't ...
  11. Positive Early Reports & Friday Links

[Originally posted at Twins Fan From Afar]

Whether the 2012 Twins can even be a .500 team largely rests on the ample shoulders of Joe Mauer and Justin Morneau. Let yourself think -- just for a second -- about how fun things could be if our 3-4 hitters were healthy and productive all season long. Thus far -- yes, I know players just showed up a week or so ago -- the early reports are positive. Justin Morneau took Francisco Liriano deep in batting practice, and hasn't had to sit out of ...
  12. One 2012 Postseason Award the Twins Can Win

The way it seems right now, even with the optimism that accompanies Spring Training, it's tough to imagine the Twins hoisting the 2012 World Series trophy. In fact, I can't reasonably imagine the Twins having the AL Cy Young award winner on their pitching staff, or the AL MVP in their batting order. But there is one award that this team was built for: The Comeback Player of the Year.

According to the criteria, the award is given to a player judged to have "re-emerged on the baseball field during a given season." ...
