Minnesota Twins 2019 MLB Draft Signing Tracker

Now that the 2019 MLB Draft is behind us, it is time to sit back and wait for news on when each of the 41 picks will either sign or decided to forgo their opportunity to play with the Twins. As the signings start coming in, this page will consistently be updated, so be sure to check back to keep up to date with all of the signings.
This year the Twins have a bonus pool allotment of $9,905,800 to spread amongst their 11 picks in the top 10 rounds. Any pick after round 10 can sign for a value up to $125,000 without it counting against their bonus pool. There is a reasonable chance that the Twins were able to save some money with their picks in the top 10 rounds, which will allow them the ability to extend some of that money to their picks picks in later rounds.

Typically, teams will sign roughly 25 to 30 of their draft picks, though the Twins were able to sign 32 of their 39 draft picks in 2018. Let’s find out how many picks the Twins will sign this year?

Updated as Darren Wolfson reports that 15th round pick Louie Varland has signed.

Signed several picks outside the Top 10 rounds on Wednesday.

Are all of these kids signing for under $150k?

Probably, though to this point we just have the names of those that signed beyond the 10th round. My guess is that none of them are more than $125K.

Doogie announced that Canterino is signing at $1 million and Seth Gray's (brother? father?) posted pictures of the Twins 4th round pick.

Updated the post to include a bonus pool tracker. Thought this was a useful addition. Let me know if there is anything else you would like us to track in this post, and I will see what we can do.

Bit surprised that Canterino signed for that much under slot, -$238,500.Starting to build a nice warchest to maybe go after one of the high school kids.Or maybe will need some of it for Julien? He is the one that the Auburn coach commented on?

Maybe with the bonus pool tracker a total on how much under or over slot we are with the signings so far...

I agree, since any of the slot money remaining for guys that haven't signed would cease to exist if they ultimately failed to sign them.I don't think this is likely to happen.

My quick math says they've saved a bit over $400K.I could see some of it being needed for 5th round pick Holland and later round pick Julien, but there are probably still some savings to be made on some of the other second-day guys and I'm not sure where it'll all go.They didn't even draft many high schoolers in the late rounds.

Updated to add a few more signings on Thursday/Friday.

Looks like it is going to be another large class of signees. If memory serves, the Twins used to sign around 25+/- players out of each class...even when they still had 50 rounds.

Somebody probably has this at the tip of their fingers, but I believe they signed around 33 last year making it one of the largest classes ever.If my Wisconsin math is correct, they have already signed 20.They will certainly try to sign all the top 10 which would add another 7.Also get the middle infielders from Auburn and another one or two elsewhere and you again have a class over 30.Seems to be the new plan going forward.

6th-rder Sawyer Gipson-Long signs with @Twins for $215k (pick 179 value = $274,800). Mercer RHP, lean frame, hit 95 mph late in spring, changeup is best secondary pitch. @MLBDraft

Its weird that the sixth and seventh rounders signed for the others slot amount.

So is the hold up on Spencer Steer and Matt Walner because Julien is in the college world series so they don'tknow what number they would need to sign him as it would obviously take an above slot number to do so?Otherwise I don't understand the hold up in signing Wallner.I presume it will be a below slot deal as he was picked earlier than most draft experts had him going by at least 10 spots.Steer also should be below slot as no one had him in their top 200 if I remember correctly. So I guess they look at what it might take to sign guys further down the line and then figure out how much they can squeeze out of other picks? Not sure how this works but it is the only thing I can think of.

Updated as Matt Wallner has now signed, and we have the dollar value of the Brent Headrick deal.

I thought we'd save more money on Wallner! I'd have to say I'm a little disappointed we didn't!

I exchanged some messages with Sean Johnson after this happened. He said it's not a coincidence, but too much to explain through a text.

They know the price tag on guys and with the way things are with the bonus pools, players know what teams are interested in them.

My belief is that there was another team willing to pay Gipson $215k and was going to take him between the Twins 6th and 7th round picks. The Twins were the only team willing to meet Prato's asking price at that point in the draft. They took Gipson first because otherwise they weren't going to get him, but knew they could get Prato.

I see Gross (Round 10) is on the ETon Twins roster.Does anyone know what he signed for?

Exactly my thought.31st ranked player chosen 13th.I don't know the slot $ for 31, but Flavine didn't flash the magic they have had in past years.

He wasn't falling to 31, so slot $ for 31 is irrelevant.
Teams boards are what is relevant, not media rankings, which are fun, but meaningless.
