Give Them A Chance

In February of 2012, we merged four prominent Twins blogs into one. It was the start of Twins Daily. We are quite proud of the community of Twins fans that we have established here at Twins Daily. Our forums are busy, filled with generally intelligent, civilized discussion on Twins topics, positive, negative or informative. We encourage you to create your own blog on our site for more discussion.

If you’re like us, you’re not just a Minnesota Twins fan. Many of you, presumably, are Minnesota sports fans. We have Monday morning quarterback tendencies and have all had our moments of Vikings disappointment. That’s true even if we were born since the last time the team lost a Super Bowl. Names like Herschel Walker, Mike Lynn, and Gary Anderson cause a reaction inside us. It is the same reaction many Minnesotans still get when they hear the names of Norm Green or Nick Leddy. Minnesota fans love Minnesota sports, at least a couple of them.

Vikings-49ers Preview: Ready for Some Football?!

The name San Francisco 49ers conjures up images of Joe Montana hitting Jerry Rice in stride for a touchdown—and Super Bowl trophies. If you’re younger than me, you might think of coach Jim Harbaugh berating a replacement ref. But the Vikings play neither one of those teams on Monday night. They play a completely new Niners squad that we know little about.

Winners Wanted: MinnCentric's MN Wild Game 1 Watch Party

Our first MinnCentric team has made the playoffs, and it is way past time we celebrated. So we’re buying a round for the house. (Make sure you’re in the house.)

In the dead of January, things looked pretty bleak for the Wild, just as they have for all of the Minnesota sports teams lately. Some say the turnaround was due to the acquisition of Devan Dubnyk, but the real heroes were the #WildSupportGroup, a group of Wild Xtra members and writers that commiserated together on Twitter, taking comfort in virtual lemon bars, each other and booze.

We Have A New (Soccer?) Website!

Why in the world would we launch a soccer website, especially before a basketball web site? There are three good reasons. The first is that soccer coverage in Minnesota has been mostly ignored by corporate media. (If there is one thing that gets a bunch of bloggers blood boiling, it’s seeing corporate media ignore something worthy.)

The second is that the local soccer team, Minnesota United, has possibly the most fun and creative fangroup the Twin Cities has ever seen. Just stroll through this gallery of pictures by photographer Jeremy Olson (who is providing many of the pictures for the site) and tell me you don't want to be a part of this.

Wild Xtra: Gameday: Wild at Jets

No rest for the weary. The Wild got a huge win over Vancouver last night but quickly have to put that in the rear view mirror because they find themselves in Winnipeg tonight for another crucial showdown against the Jets. Plenty of playoff aspirations on the line in Manitoba tonight.
