Liriano's pitch count is going up faster than Blackburn.
Maybe he'll only go 5 and some change...

Ryan may have been doing both when he agreed to the trade.

Blackburn is actually throwing alright. He's been lucky a few times, but not bad.

Bert just referenced the pitcher acquired in the Liriano deal as hopefully being a top of the rotation guy.

    Why am I not surprised.

I think that Bert gets paid extra to say stuff like that.

Who else is surprised to see this game 1-0 in the 6th? I'd have thought maybe 6-5. Both men throwing well.

Yeah, if Blackburn can somehow become a decent #5 for this team it would be huge. We are spending the money anyways.

I have to say, I'd like to see Mastrionni get some playing time at 2B from time to time.

Liriano pitched a little better than I had predicted.

Might as well see if he could cut it I guess. With the new defensive specialist, I doubt Casilla will be with this team next year. No need to have Dozier, Carroll, Casilla and defensive wizard acquired in the Liriano trade.

Could be, but I am guessing he was hitting the crack rock.

Why can't Mauer turn on any pitch? This isn't the dome... still.

Blackburn had a really nice outing. Wish we would have gotten him some runs there.

    Good game either way.

I'm guessing that once Plouffe comes back they will trade Carroll or Casilla before the Aug 31st deadline. Escobar will be up at some point as well I imagine. I'd prefer they dump both Casilla and Caroll before the deadline to be honest. Caroll for straight up salary relief (A's could use him) and Casilla for anything

The Twins are to cheap to sign Liriano, so how in the hell will they ever afford to sign a free sgent?

Burton, Perkins, Burnett, and Fien are all apparently unavailable tonight. Can't figure any other reason they put Gray in there.
