I just heard the lineup announced on KSTP and they had Carroll at second, hitting 9th. Whatever.

I see Masterson still has his wild splits going this year, .580ish OPS against righties, .750ish against lefties.

That play right there is my biggest problem with Velencia. Runner on third... Charge the ball. He doesn't move his feet. Same Danny... He didn't learn down in AAA. That's one run that he could have at least challenged.

My first impression of the newly-promoted Valencia? He still sucks.

That at bat was bad... Chasing the same outside slider he did before but the at bat is one thing.

Not charging that groundball cost us a run.

Masterson is dealing... That run could be Important. If he wants to stay... You'd figure he'd go get the ball.

Im gonna try and give him a break and say it was nerves... However... He's been playing back on balls and reaching for a couple of years now.

    Im disappointed.

I agree. Although I think it's crazy to judge a player after his first 3 innings back with the team, I just have a hard time believing he's any better now than when the Twins sent him down.

    Sinker/slider-"type" pitcher.

    *sigh*

Had to watch last night's game on tape delay...couple things:

    1. Diamond was really, really good. Really hit his spots.

    2. We often complain about umpiring...last night's home plate umpire was simply outstanding. I don't think he missed a pitch for either side all night.

Now on to today...Valencia still sucks.

Willingham is a man amongst boys, as the saying goes.

Might not want to hang that slider down and in, meat.

Absolutely.....I was thinking the exact same thing while watching the game. There are some terrific umpires around the league that don't get the recognition they deserve, and he is one of them.

Absolutely... Its not a 3 inning judgement from me... Its a more of the same crap from me... I guess I was just expecting the trip to AAA to be a wake up call. Hitting is tough... The pitchers are working to get you out. Ill give him a pass for that... His next at bat could be better... But not moving your feet on D... That's on you... You'd think he'd want to come back and show Gardy something.

First play back and a run scored. It's one thing to say you want it and I'm sure he does. Well his first impression on the return is laying back on a ball. Bad mistake.

Boy, it would really suck if they trade JW. In a season that has been covered in a frosting of dog fecies - it sure would be nice to see Willingham challenge the 40HR mark in a Twins Uniform. That would make him only the 2nd player in Twins history to do that.

I don't want to go all VodkaDave on Samuel Deduno, or anything. He is, after all Samuel Deduno, and he can lose the strike zone at any moment.

But...this is not your typical Twins-type pitching call-up. Samuel has some above average stuff.

Dickbert can really drive me up the wall. In this inning alone...

"Justin Masterson is a sinker/slider-type pitcher."

    "a utility-type player."

    "a pull-type hitter."

    "a get-me-over-type pitch."

Been looking good. He back doors the spinner on lefties well.
