Burton is actually pitching right now.

I'm not really sure facing a lefty who throws 102mph and strikes out nearly half the batters he faces results in the sort of horrible-looking that can be fixed by coaching.

Why do the Twins always need to make these games so dramatic?

Taking the scenic route to win this thing.

Perkins is in the pen, warming up. I'm guessing, since he pitched last night, they were hoping Burton could do the job today.

The Reds have a lot of RH hitters up so Burton got to start the inning. Perkins is warming up.

Question: would you have pinch-hit Doumit in that situation? Or for Mastrioanni?

I don't understand why Ryan wasn't out there to lead off the inning.

Lots of righties due in the ninth. For once, I'm with Gardy on this one.

Man! Even the ending was dramatic - Casilla, rather than just stepping on the bag, falls down flat on top of it!

He might have had his best AB against Chapman.

It's the pathetic ABs against mediocre RHers that have me worried.

    EDIT: Nice win.

Nice win, hopefully they can keep up this momentum for a bit.

I thought Doumit would have a better chance than Morneau--man he is sucking. For you old-timers here, when I saw the replay of J-Will's homer, I thought of Harmon, not the trajectory of the bomb but the way Willingham stepped across the plate.

It looked to me like Carroll threw him a changeup.

I'm with you. Though without pretending that it makes sense, Gardenhire's extreme antsiness with respect to having a catcher ready in case of emergency is probably the reason. Not a good one, but a reason?

Well, it's not as if he had Doumit suit up for the ninth. We got to see Son of Sal gut Burton through that inning.

    Player of the Game, obviously.
