With Butera in the lineup and Morneau going against a tough lefty, Twins might have a tough time generating offense tonight. Hopefully the good Frankie shows up.

Wait, who is the other hitter worse than Liriano?
And hey, Butera's WHIP and ERA are WAAAY better than Liriano's, so he's got that.

It was in jest, but the other one I was referring to was Morneau who is sporting a .093/.110/.203 line against LHP this year. Against LHP Morneau needs to be dropped in the lineup at the very least, in a perfect world I would like to see this lineup against LHP until Morneau gets his **** together:
1.Span
2.Revere
3. Mauer
4. Willingham
5. Plouffe 1B
6. Doumit DH
7. Dozier SS
8. Valencia 3B (I know he is in the minors, but Valencia is a solid option against LHP)
9. Carroll

Interesting. They just said on the telecast that the opening home run Pittsburgh hit last night should have only been a ground rule double. Apparently (and they showed the rule) once it bounced off the fence it became a "bounding ball" which, if it goes out of play off a fielder, is only 2 bases.

Had trouble getting my proxy server working and missed the first half of the inning. Who scored?

Tonight would be a good time for Plouffe to hit a home run (or three).

Apparently Willingham didn't realize it had bounced off him and they couldn't see it from the dugout.

It's a little frustrating to see the Twins put two pitchers at the back of the lineup in tonight's game. Add in Morneau against a lefty and 1/3 of this lineup is entirely useless.

We all know the Pirates offense is inept but Liriano is looking pretty good out there tonight.

A fantastic plate appearance there by the greatest defensive catcher in the history of the game.
That's 2 hits and 1 walk in his last 25 trips to the plate, with a .250 OPS.Last edited by snepp; 06-20-2012 at 07:06 PM.

The Minnesota Twins may not have received a very good start from Scott Diamond, but all four Twins minor league starters pitched very well on Saturday night. Each of them pitched into the 7th inning...
