And look at that... could this be the last lead Marquis blows while a member of the Twins' starting pitching staff?

This is what I am talking about with regard to Anderson. Can anyone do a study comparing the Twins pitchers' 1st inning performance vs. the rest of the league in the Anderson era, or at least this year? I remember Radke having 1st inning issues as well. And then settling. Marquis and Blackburn, not so much.

We probably need to score a lot of runs to have a chance today.

This is not unusual at all... I remember Maddux and Glaving were notoriously 'normal' in the 1st inning and with most good pitchers you hear, "Better get him early cuz you won't get him once he gets going."

The Mauer AB in the first inning pisses me off to no end. #3 hitter up with a runner on second. he shud be looking for a pitch to drive. He watches two fastballs down the middle and now he's in defensive mode and makes a weak swing at a 2 strike pitch with predictable results.

Marquis clearly doesn't have it today. Hopefully the Twins can put up some runs and keep this thing close. Try to make it into a bullpen battle. Grienke luckily is prone to big innings , you just gotta rattle his cage a bit.

I just wish he would swing a bit more early in the count.

Well Marquis isn't just normal in the first inning, and other Twins pitchers aren't either. I would still like to see some data in defense of the Twins, then.

    Jettison

Jettison Marquis. Mediocre at best and they knew it all along.

This is starting to look like batting practice for the Brewers. I would like to see Marquis go on the DL for a while to try to get his head together.

Jason Marquis...worst FA signing of the Terry Ryan era, or worst in baseball history? Discuss.
