New Britain vs Portland

Logan got knocked around pretty good in his start today. Only lasting 3 innings, he gave up 6 Runs off 8 hits and 4 walks.
Portland, offering an almost entirely Right-Handed Lineup, Homered twice to take an early 6-1 lead.

Logan's last two outings have him struggling a bit with control. Facing Mostly Right-Handed bats in back-to-back games is one thing, but allowing 7 hitters to simply walk to first base in his last 9 innings is something he'll have to get under control.

New Britain @ Richmond Flying Squirrels

Not the prettiest of outings, but it's about all you could ask for.
Logan balked in the 3rd and threw a wild pitch in the 6th, but held the Squirrels to
2 runs from 7 hits and 1 walk while striking out 8 through 6 and 2/3 innings.

New Britain vs. Portland Sea Dogs

It was the 4th inning that troubled Darnell. A lead-off walk followed by a base hit and an Oscar Tejada home run. That's 3 runs on the board for Portland. They followed that up with a Double to right by Bryce Brentz.
Through 6 innings, Logan gave up only 5 Hits, 1 Walk, 3 Earned Runs while striking out 3 batsmen. Using 95 pitches, his control seems to be getting back to where it was at the beginning of the season.
Darnell's WHIP was 1.11 in his last two starts compared to 2.56 in the previous two starts.

New Britain Rock Cats vs Reading Phillies

Another disappointing start for our up&down prospect. 4 runs came in on a Grand Slam by Darin Ruf, a Phillies top prospect, but no matter which way you look at it the bases were juiced and that's what a pitcher has to avoid. 3 more walks added to his belt spells trouble with command yet again. @ 80-50, (that's 62.5% strikes) Darnell's showing difficulty lumping his balls thrown at the same batters. Maybe it just wasn't Logan's day on the mound, but coming after 2 of his better starts, he'll be looking to rebound against New Hampshire. The Fisher Cats have a couple guys who are making their living getting hits this Season. Good luck to you Mr. Darnell!

New Britain Rock Cats vs. New Hampshire Fisher Cats

About on par with his better outings of late, it was the 4th inning that gave Darnell some trouble, giving up a couple solo homeruns.
@ 81-57 (that's 70.4% strikes) Logan has successfully continued on his path of a roller coaster season. That huge plunge downhill feels great at the right park, now let's see if his next start can become the slow gradual climb up a great hill... and hope that it never comes back down.

New Britain vs. Binghamton Mets

Arguably his best start of the Season, Logan Darnell tossed 90 pitches (90-61, 68% for strikes) of shutout ball.
Scattering 7 hits over 7 innings, striking out 4 batsmen and walking none.
The Binghamton Mets are no slouches as they have 3 batsmen listed in the top 12 for average.
Kai Gronauer stole 2nd base, but in the 4th inning while Kai was batting, Darnell picked off Sean Kazmar to end the inning.
Job well done Mr. Darnell, keep up the good work!

New Britain @ Portland Sea Dogs

Logan continues to show signs of consistency perhaps finally getting out of his bumpy road through much of April and May.
He hit his pitch limit, 104-63 (61% strikes) and was pulled from Sundays game in the 6th inning. Another good performance all around.
It was a case of the mistake pitch that sent a ball from slugger Reynaldo Rodriguez over the fence with one on and nobody out in the bottom of the 4th.
He then had a strikeout, lineout, and strikeout to end that inning.
Lanigan blew the game allowing 5 runs in the 7th preventing Logan from achieving his 6th win.
I really hope Mr. Darnell has found his groove and stays on track for the month of June!

New Britain vs Harrisburg

Single, Single, Double... 3 runs later, that's all it took to start things in the first inning for Darnell to turn it around.
I've seen pitchers do it time and time again. The important thing here is that he settled down and got out of it.
He picked off another runner in the 2nd. 87-56 pitch count = 64% Strikes.
His control seemed to be there, just not in the first. I suppose I would also have a few butterflies in my stomach going head to head with Washington's hot prospect Daniel Rosenbaum.
We'll look forward to seeing what you can do against the Akron Aeros lineup!
