Just a reminder that the Arizona Fall League begins play today. The Twins' players are on the Glendale team, which faces Mesa at 1:35 today. Twins players include Byron Buxton, A.J. Achter, Zack Jones, Trevor May, Alex Meyer, Max Kepler and Eddie Rosario. Meyer is the starting pitcher in today's game. You can follow the games at the AFL scoreboard page at Winter Leagues: Arizona Fall League: Scoreboard | MLB.com: Events (http://mlb.mlb.com/milb/stats/scoreboard.jsp?sid=l119&t=l_sco&lid=119&ymd=20131008)

Opposing starter is Michael Roth, from the Angels. Drafted last year (2012) in the 9th round, iffy stuff but already made the majors as a bullpen arm. Lefty. Nice first pitcher for Buxton et al to see.

Alex Meyer starting for Glendale. Buxton leading off in CF. Kepler batting 7th, and playing 1B.

Back when the rosters were released I thought it was interesting that he was listed as IF (which was obviously for him going to be 1B). Every other 1B on the roster is *yawn* so he's probably going to get some good playing time there, assuming he has some success..

Most of the players play about 1/2 of the time... catchers probably play about a 1/3 of the time. They try to get fairly equivalent at bats for the players who are there. Its' about development, not about winning, though when it gets close to the championship, you might see the better players play more.

Is there any word if any of these games will be televised? I would assume if Buxton is the top cieling prospect in the minor leagues, MLB, ESPN or at least FSN would want to try and get something showing him strut his stuff again against other up & comers in the minors.

What a bum. Folds as soon as he gets tougher competition. Can you believe Ryan didn't trade this guy a month ago when his trade value was high?

Kepler fanned his last time up. Glendale tied the game at 8.

Buxton singled in the 10th, was stranded at 2nd. Game finished tied.

And unfortunately, it was Zach Jones who was pasted for 5 runs in the game.
