With a lefty on the mound tonight this is about as right handed that they can get.

bulldogguy
04-13-2012, 03:21 PM
Lots of "Spring Training" power in the line-up...let's see if they can back-up yesterday's hit parade with another performance. I would love to see Ploufee or Hughes put up some consistent numbers. We could use someone in that 8,9,1,2 spot be able to put the ball in the gap or over the fence and drive in some people.

Shane Wahl

The bottom of the order could actually be productive.

Riverbrian

Love the lineup... Go get em...

bulldogguy
04-13-2012, 03:41 PM
That is what I am hoping...i would love to see this on a consistent basis minus Doumit catching and having Parmalee play first and have Joe catching (understand though that this is probably their best hitting line-up against lefties).

The game might be canceled tonight due to rain.

The game might be canceled tonight due to rain.

It looks the rain is supposed hold off until after 10. The weather channel lists a 10% chance of rain until 10.

Looks like a strong wind will carry the ball in left field. More for Willinghammer?

glanzer
04-13-2012, 04:20 PM
That's the power lineup. With Hughes batting 9th that's pretty solid.

04-13-2012, 04:34 PM
That's what I'm talking about!! That's a heavy hitting lineup, let's go Swarzy!!!

Bad angle on that ball by Plouffe. Should Be out #2

twinzgrl
04-13-2012, 08:04 PM
Swarzak is doing all right. Very encouraged by that...

John Bonnes
04-13-2012, 08:06 PM
Tough break. The Twins get a double-play ball but Swarzak reaches out, knocks it down and it ends up an infield single. Texas scores on the next batter with a single.

John Bonnes
04-13-2012, 08:07 PM
And then another. Ugh.

twinzgrl
04-13-2012, 08:08 PM
I spoke too soon, although that Hamilton hit should have been a double play...Joe has a nice stretch at first...and just like that they are behind 2-1...ahoot!! I jinxed him....

John Bonnes
04-13-2012, 08:09 PM
Criminy, Hughes.

John Bonnes
04-13-2012, 08:10 PM
Hughes' spot on this roster it tentative enough without sucking defensively.

USAFChief

5 ground balls and zero outs. The baseball gods hate us.

Riverbrian
04-13-2012, 08:11 PM
Criminy, Hughes.

Yeah you can't have that with a team like the Rangers.

John Bonnes
04-13-2012, 08:11 PM
And Willingham gets in on the action by throwing to the wrong base.

Riverbrian
04-13-2012, 08:13 PM
Swarzak didn't deserve that... You know I didn't deserve that inning

USAFChief
04-13-2012, 08:15 PM
Well, this is something new...playing from behind.

Riverbrian
04-13-2012, 08:17 PM

Compared to how Liriano looked yesterday, Swarzak looks like Cy Young.

Swarzak = Efficiency

Riverbrian
04-13-2012, 08:31 PM
He'd should have a zero on the board

DaTwins
04-13-2012, 08:35 PM
The grounders are finding the gaps, I guess that's what happens with the infield they put out there.

Riverbrian
04-13-2012, 08:37 PM
Hughes yeah. You gotta hit a bunch to overcome that type of defense and luck. Hopefully we will.

DaTwins
04-13-2012, 08:41 PM
On the bright side, the Rangers have hit some balls pretty deep into the outfield that have been caught. I can't tell if Swarzak is pitching to contact and being efficient, or the Rangers are just uber-aggressive and are jumping on his pitches.

Riverbrian
04-13-2012, 08:46 PM
Looks like he just hasn't really grooved anything... He's mixing things up. Looks like a pro.

twinzgrl
04-13-2012, 08:47 PM
Our boys need to get some runs for Swarzak....Willingham caught that? Good...improvement...Delmon wouldn't have caught that.

asmus_ndsu
04-13-2012, 08:48 PM
Pretty sure being agressive is Texas' prerogative every game. That's why our pitching staff always struggles against them

A little surprised Swarzak is still out there. 3rd time through the lineup. That one could be placed on Gardy.

Saw the video... Priceless. He could have won the dizzy bat contest. I've seen outfielders play like that after a case of beer in softball or maybe someone was yelling to him. Left... I mean right... No left... Turn around... Now... Now now...

Plouffe and the Aussie need to hit to play. I was surprised last year by Hughes defense, I thought he would be brutal, but he turned out be unimpressively adequate. I don't think you can consider him for regular play at second, though.

Heslthy span just being healthy span... That is why he is one of the most underrated leadoff men in the game

'Healthy' Span also hit .264 in 2010, it's not exactly a given that he'd hit if healthy. I'm as impressed with him as anyone else on the roster.

Based on tonight no but it was one play.. Well two... There was a range play that Casilla may have got. The whole deal is our margin of error is pretty strict. Doesn't make sense to hope for double digit run production like yesterday.

Extra outs were given in the big inning. It's the difference.

Speaking of span... How about Carroll as well? How many times have both those guys got in base together this year already? Now if we can get the others to drive me in more often

He's a career utility guy asked to be a regular shortstop at 38. My optimistic take when he was signed was that he was a placeholder and insurance policy. I can't condemn him for being what he is.

I can see that... I'm all in on him already, Ill even say im starting to like his presence more than Cabrera or hardy. Even though his stats don't show it but he has been so consistently productive considering the roll he's in. Whether its just moving a running over with a sac grounder or taking a 2 out walk he's been giving our middle lineup many opportunities to get runs... Plus he's been very good in the field

I'm totally with you that OBP is a more important stat, but .331 is league average, not exactly stellar. If he's going to be considered a great leadoff hitter he has to be at least .365.

DaTwins
04-13-2012, 09:20 PM

Last year, Hughes had a UZR above 0... No one is going to claim he's a great 2B, but he's just fine there. yes, he had an error tonight, but all players have errors. It happens. Plouffe and Hughes need to continue hitting well against Lefties. They'll hit alright in the right situations.

Thankfully, it's 2012, nearly everything that anyone does on a major league baseball field is recorded and put right out there in public. No need to wonder...about that. I would wonder what motivation there would be to measure something like that in cases "besides the homers."
