In hopes of propelling the Florimonster to another good game, I would like to repeat what I said yesterday:

Wish we'd get to the point where we know exactly what Floriman is.
"If he doesn't get some hits pronto, that point may be arriving Real Soon Now."

Lackey's got some swing-and-miss stuff going there. Well, look-and-sit-down stuff, that other time.

Twins general manager Terry Ryan said Kyle Gibson is not an option to replace Pedro Hernandez in the rotation.

Gibson tossed a shutout Wednesday at Triple-A Rochester and now boasts a 3.32 ERA and 35/11 K/BB ratio over 40 2/3 innings. Even though it appears he won't be called up soon, the righty is a good bet to spend significant time with the big club this season.

Tim Wood has been shut down from his rehab assignment after developing more soreness in his pitching shoulder.

He'll be examined at the Twins' Triple-A affiliate in Rochester. Wood is coming back from a rotator cuff strain and had allowed six runs over his last three rehab appearances.

This was after he signed with the Twins, not before, right? Twins signed multiple rehab projects but I thought Wood was not one of them.

This game so far reminds me a lot of the game last night.

In that both were played with a white ball, by teams of 9 men per side.

I'll say it. Good at-bat by Napoli. Correia's pitch count is up there. I hope he can get through the sixth.

I was pretty sure Morneau was out at the plate, but the replay showed the catcher never tagged him. Arcia is going to be pretty good. I really liked the Twins taking advantage of the other team's mistakes.

Little tougher to get through 6 in 100 pitches against the Sox. I understand why Sox/Yankees games are brutally long.

stringer bell

I dunno. They need five outs to get to Burton/Perkins. With a 2-run lead, they have a decent chance, but they are straining the BP.

Very true. I couldn't tell at full speed. Morneau the other night as well as Pedroia and Florimon tonight I thought were all safe, but wasn't sure until they showed the super slow-mo. Of course Pedroia was the only one called safe. Is this game in Boston????

M*A*S*H for me. Never appreciated it when I was a kid but got hooked during re-runs.

Actually, I loved all three of those shows. I may be the only Steve Landesberg fan in Minnesota, but I loved his character. DeVito was great as Louie, and M*A*S*H* was great until it got too preachy. I agreed with what they were preaching, but it wasn't as entertaining.

It's not clear at this point how severe the injury is. Florimon Jr. was replaced at shortstop by Eduardo Escobar.

I never understood why the "Jr." gets attached to a last name, when the last-name-only is used. If Pedro has a brother Fred, he's just Florimon. So should Pedro. He's Pedro Jr., if such distinction is really needed.
