Buchholz is 6-0 against Vance Worley who is 0-4. Sure looks like a potential problem for our Twins tonight.

However... Buchholz is not going to finish the season 25-0... He has to lose sometime... Worley is not going to finish the season 0-20... He has to win sometime.

That potential problem based on the records of the starting pitchers tonight is solved.

Worley is due for a win and Buchholz is due for a loss.

This one is ours... Now we get to watch the details of how it happens.

I've always believed that if you don't seek to reach beyond what you think is possible, then you will never do anything of value. I'll pick the Twins to win 3 out of 4 this series.

Of course, if they don't, I'll deny I ever made this post.

Buchholz is not going to finish the season 25-0

True. The season is fickle and Lady Luck does not smile down on the talented every time.

Worley is not going to finish the season 0-20

True. Pitchers get removed from the rotation long before that.

I'd like the entire Twins team to take the field tonight with arms looking like vintage Lester Heyes.

Arms gooped so thickly that they could catch fly balls with their forearms alone.

Well, if you want to take the bat out of a rookie's hands at 2-0, not a bad choice BTW, you aren't going to give him the green light on 3-0 are you? Maybe not even on 3-1, with the bases loaded?

(Then again, it's Hicks to follow.)

I'd give him the Green Light 2-0... I just don't want him swinging at a slider in the dirt 2-0. He took the same pitch two pitchers earlier.

Besides 2-0.. That is when you can be picky. Look for your pitch... Not a low hard slider. Nobody likes low hard sliders.

Arcia and Hicks both introduced to baseball's most legendary stadium with the bases loaded against the reigning AL pitcher of the month. Hard to hold the strikeouts against them; nothing can prepare you for that.

The good news is that they're getting all these experiences out of the way now.

Warm tingle down by spine after reading that. It's true... each game, at-bat or play in the field is a chance to put something in the piggy bank.

Yeah, the word for the past year was his glove was MLB-ready, it was the bat that was questionable. Turns out there's questions on both for now.I certainly agree John. He's got the skill set to be an excellent CF, but he has misjudged far too many balls and struggled with the wind. He's got a fine arm and good range, but he hasn't gotten good jumps on a lot of balls. I'm confident he'll do well in the field, but it may not be this year.

Yep, next year we put up a 5 spot in that inning. Arcia still should have had a better at bat though  I actually wasn't that disappointed in the Arcia AB. Didn't like the swing on 2-0 at a pitch in the dirt--but I agree with Brian that I have no problem with him looking for a pitch to hit on 2-0--and I was more disappointed at him swinging at ball 4 in his eyes. I simply meant that's how a lot of baseball games get decided. A key moment in the game, even though it's the top of the 1st. If Arcia wins that battle, the game might be all but over. If Buchholz wins the battle, the game is still very much in doubt, and there'll likely be another, similar AB somewhere in the game where a Boston hitter will have a similar chance.

I know we have the best bullpen in baseball and all, but I'd be ok with tacking on a few more runs here.

Our two lefty batters coming up have their work cut out for them.

That's funny... If I was a manager... I'd try it... At least once... Call time out and go out and talk to The opposing pitcher.

Me: How ya feeling son?
Shields: Uhh.. Good.. What ya doin here.
Me: Just noticing a little drop in velocity. Mechanics are a little off
Shields: Uhh Ok...
Me: I'll you what... You've pitched a whale of a game... Let's bring in someone to finish this for you. (points at left arm and holds hand out for the ball.
Yeah, he's on my pretend baseball team too. Look both ways before you cross the street, Greg Holland. And not just for a vehicle driven by either James Shields or Kelvin Herrera.

Funny. But if I were the umpire, I'd run him so fast his head would spin. I'd ask my union to lodge a request for a suspension. And the next game I had with the team, I'd run him again just for saying "good evening, sir" to me.

Show me up. Nuh uh.

Hard to say, but we know for a fact Plouffe wouldn't.

I would love to see some kind of graphic on close pitches. Buckhollz got most of them, the Twins very few.

Just as I type that, Duensing got a called strike to Saltalamachia that was way, way more outside than the ball four pitch to the previous batter. What's going on?
Gladden isn't into nuance in about the same way that Sasquatch isn't into public appearances, but even he was Lombo-punchin' mad about the strike zone tonight.

I'm shocked by that.
